Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce restrictions on the fiber band due to dispersion of materials to extend the transmission distance, by inserting an optical band pass filter to the light path to narrow the half-amplitude level of the spread of an optical spectrum. CONSTITUTION:A signal inputted to a pulse input terminal 15 is given to an LED driving circuit 11, and the circuit 11 responds to the input pulse to cause an LED 12 to emit a light. The output light of the LED 12 is incident to a fiber 13 through an optical band pass filter 17. The output light is converted photoelectrically and is amplified electrically at the receiving end of the fiber 13 by a receiving amplifier 14 and is outputted to a terminal 16. The filter 17 has a center wavelength lambda0, and the width of the pass band is narrower than a half- amplitude level DELTAlambda of the spectrum spread of a light source. The output light of the filter 17 has a level lower than that of the output light of the LED 12, and an amplifier of a high gain is used as the amplifier 14. Thus, restrictions on the fiber band due to dispersion of materials are reduced to extend the transmission distance considerably.
