Abstract

PURPOSE:To maintain relative toner conc. with respect to the concn. of paper constant and eliminate detection errors for the vertical movement of the paper by correcting the errors in the detection output of the optical density of a toner mark by the output of the optical density of the paper. CONSTITUTION:Detecting heads 21, 22 for density are provided in a position where the toner mark MK on paper 3 does not pass and where it passes, and these detect the optical density of the paper and the optical density of the mark MK, respectively. The outputs thereof are negated of common components of both by a differential amplifier 4, and are compared with set values in a detecting circuit 6, according to which a toner is replenished. Thereby, only the toner conc. is contained in the output because the common components are negated by the amplifier 4 despite the occurrence of a change in the density of the paper itself and the vertical movement of the paper owing to its transfer, whereby the relative toner concn. with respect to the density of the paper is made constant. The output changes owing to the vertical movement of the paper are roughly equal with both heads, and the errors thereof are eliminated.
