Abstract
PURPOSE:To enhance photoconductive characteristics, by providing a photoconductive amorphous silicon layer containing N atoms more in an upper layer zone and a lower layer zone than in a middle layer zone, and uniformly distributed in each layer zone, on an aluminum alloy substrate haivng an alumina surface containing structural water. CONSTITUTION:A photoconductive layer 103 containing as a principal constituent, amorphous silicon, and H and/or halogen, and N atoms is provided directly or with a barrier layer 102 therebetween on an aluminum substrate 101 having a surface subjected to anodic oxidation and steam treatment or the like to form an alumina having structural water. An electrophotographic image-forming material 100 is fabricated so that the N atom concentrations of the lower layer 104, the middle layer 105, and the upper layer 106 of the layer 103, respectively, C1, C3, C2 have the following relationship: C3<C1, C3<C2, and the concentration in each layer 104, 105, 106 is uniformly distributed, thus permitting adhesion between the substrate 101 and the layer 103 to be made strong and prevented from peeling, thus an all-environment type photoreceptor excellent in photoconductivity characteristics is obtained.
