Abstract
PURPOSE:To ensure the sealing with the sufficient force of adhesion between plastic substrate, by using an epoxy adhesive agent and by providing an vapor deposited film at the necessary area of the plastic substrate. CONSTITUTION:Vapor deposited films 4a and 4b of indium oxide, tin oxide, etc. are formed on upper and lower plastic film substrate 1a and 1b respectively excluding the areas of lead wires 3 and 5. Then the epoxy resin is coated on the fringe of the substrate including the film 4a (or 4b) to assemble the substrate 1a and 1b. Thus obtained display element has a structure of the vapor deposited film-epoxy resin-vapor deposited film at the area 2a of the sealed part with the extremely large adhesive strength. The greater part of the area 2b has the structure of only epoxy resin, but the ratio of the area 2b is small compared with the entire sealed part. Thus a sufficiently high degree of adhesive strength can be obtained at the sealed part as a whole.
