Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable restart immediately in accordance with need after stopping drive by transferring power energy from a starting power source to a driven machine equipped with a gas turbine or by using synchronous clutches instead of breaking clutches.
CONSTITUTION: Synchronous clutches 16 and a rotor rotating device 17 of a driven machine are arranged with a space between a torque convertor 2 and an auxiliary drive device 4 at gas turbine installations consisting of a starting power source 1, torque convertor 2, the auxiliary drive device 4, a gas turbine 5 and a generator 6. The clutches 16 are automatically linked when the number of revolution at the driving side becomes relatively larger than that at the driven side and are automatically released when contrary. Thus power energy can be transferred from the starting power source 1 to the driven side without a complete stop of the turbine 5 and restart is possible even immediately after a stop.
