Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to continuously measure the gap between a skirt guard and a step during the operation of the man conveyor, by arranging a gap measuring device which slides along the skirt guard on a base which can be freely mounted or removed to and from cleat grooves in the step. CONSTITUTION:A base 13 having guides 14 and a U shaped cross section is arranged in the cleat grooves 4 in the arbitrary step 1. The gap measuring device 6 comprising a sliding shaft 11, a sensing element 20, an operating box 12, a pen recorder 7, and the like is provided on the base 13. The length is adjusted so that the tip of the sliding shaft 11 slides along the skirt guard 2, and the man conveyor is operated for climbing and descending. In the sensing element 20, a linear sliding type variable resistor or a linear sliding type potentiometer is used, for a contactless photoelectric type or an eddy current type can be utilized. The measurement is alternately performed on the right and left sides by the control of the operating box 12, and the results are recorded by the pen recorder 7. In this way, the gap G between the step 1 and the skirt curard 2 is continuously measured and recorded on the right and left sides at the same time, and highly reliable data is obtained.
