Abstract

PURPOSE: Elastic filament that is made by spinning a polymer mixture of a polyolefin with a polyester elastomer, thus being suitably used for supporters or bandage, because of its moderate initial modulus and high elastic recovery.
CONSTITUTION: A polymer mixture consisting of (A) a polyolefin such as crystalline polypropylene and (B) a polyester elastomer containing 70W10% of the hard segment of a high-melting and high-crystallinity polyester and 30W90% of the soft segment of a low-melting aliphatic polyester with a higher than 0°C secondary transition point is extruded through a spinneret made by boring a plurality of orifices on a stainless steel plate into fiber and cooled with the air and taken up to produce the objective elastic filament.
