Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the outflow of slag in a molten steel pan perfectly by shutting off the outflow of the melt in the pan when the weight detected value of the melt in the pan lowers below the weight calculated value of slag.
CONSTITUTION: When the molten metal 4 in a molten steel pan 1 flowed out from a gate 6 arrives at around the bottom of the pan 1 and the fall of a weight detected signal W below the weight calcurated signal Ws of a nozzle 5 is detected by a comparative discriminating circuit 14, the gate 6 is closed before the slag 5 flows out from the pan 1. The weights W of the molten steel 4 and the slag 5 in the pan 1 are detected with weight detectors 2, 2'. In some cases, the specific gravity σs of the slag changes or the volume V of the molten steel 4 or the like in the pan 1 does not change uniformly with the inside shape of the pan 1 depending upon casting conditions. Therefore, as the times for making the detection and operation of the slag weight are more frequent, the correction of the specific gravity σs of the slag and the volume V of the molten pan 4 or the like can be made at each time and therefore, the outflow of the slag is surely prevented.
