Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain a PET type polyester having improved brightness, transparency, and drawing properties without causing end down, etc., by adding a Ca compound as a solution at a stage of an esterification conversion in a specific range, followed by filtration so that coarse particles are removed.
CONSTITUTION: In preparing a polyester by reacting a dicarboxylic acid consisting essentially of tereththalic acid with a glycol consisting essentially of ethylene glycol to give a glycol ester of dicarboxylic acid and/or its low polymer[bis-β-hydroxydi- ethyl terephthalate(BHT)]which is subjected to polycondensation, at a stage before the beginning of the polycondensation, 60W300ppm (based on polymer) Ca compound (preferably Ca acetate) calculated as Ca as a solution of a glycol and/or water is added to the BHT having esterification conversion of 95W99% and BHT is filtered by a filter with a mesh ≤200μ, or the Ca solution is previously filtered and added to BHT.
