PURPOSE:To manufacture a one-side hot dipped steel sheet of great value as a commodity by attaching a scraper and a cleaning rod to a cover protecting the surface of a hot dipping bath in contact with a deflector roll at a position where the roll surface rotates downward. CONSTITUTION:Part of a metallic bath 2 for hot dipping in a furnace 1 for melting the hot dipping metal is protruded with an electromagnetic pump or the like and brought into contact with one side of a steel strip 4 guided by deflector rolls 5. The amount of metal stuck by hot dipping is regulated with a gas wiping nozzle 7. When the hot dipping metal is violently moved and splashed on the roll 5, the stuck metallic splashes are removed with a scraper 8 attached to a protective cover 3. At the same time, cleaning rods 10 are slid to remove metallic lumps on the scraper 8 and metallic lumps gathering between the roll and the strip.
