Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the moisture introduced during the operation of assembling a battery to be absorbed into zeolite and to improve the workability thereof, by adding some zeolite to a positive electrode of an organic electrolyte battery. CONSTITUTION:A negative collector 2 is spot-welded in contact with the internal bottom surface of a negative electrode can 1; a lithium rolled plate 3 which is the negative metal made of a light metal is pressed to touch this collector 2. Thereon, a separator 4 which is impregnated with an organic electrolyte and a positive electrode 7 are installed, and the negative electrode can 1 is hermetically sealed with a positive electrode can 5 as well as an insulating packing 6 to form the organic electrolyte battery. Manganese dioxide, for instance, is used as the active material of the positive electrode 7, which can be formed by mix- molding manganese dioxide with a conductor and a binder. In this case, 5vol% of zeolite having a selective absorbency to the moisture is added and mixed with the positive electrode 7. Next, the mixture is subjected to heat-treatment at about 300 deg.C, then the zeolite shows a preferable dry condition affer releasing its water of crystallization.
