Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit quick cooling of an object such as high m.p. material after melting by heating without any crucible by disposing a heat resistant glass dome contg. the object and a water cooled copper base plate near the imaging position of an arc image furnace.
CONSTITUTION: A heat resistant glass dome 5 and a water-cooled copper base plate 11 which are airtightly coupled are disposed near the imaging position of an arc image furnace. An object 9 is contained in this dome 5, and the object 9 is melted by heating by the concentrated irradiation of the light heat rays from a xenon lamp 1, after which the heating is ceased, then the melted object contacts with the base plate 11 and cools quickly. In this way, the amorphous material of the high m.p. material is produced effectively without using any crucible.
