(See Publication No. 72). That is, the liquid crystal display panel 2 is arranged in front of the window 1 made of transparent or semi-transparent glass, and the window 1 is
A scattering type reflector 3 is provided on the bottom surface, and external light is incident through the window 1 and reflected by the reflector 3 to enter the display panel 2. A watch case T is provided below the reflector plate 3 to house a battery 4, an integrated drive circuit 5, a printed circuit board 6 to which the circuit 5 is fixed, and the like. Note that 8 is a watch band 15 attached to the lower end of this case T, 9 is a light source, and 10 is an observer. Since such a wristwatch has a structure in which the window 1 and the case T are stacked vertically, it is thick and bulky, making it unsuitable for a wristwatch. The present invention uses a transmissive n-type liquid crystal display panel to facilitate color display, and is further improved to have a thinner structure. Embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail below with reference to FIGS. 2 to 4. FIG. 2 shows the appearance of the wristwatch 10 of the present invention, where 2 is a field-effect twisted nematic type liquid crystal display panel, 11 is a timepiece case, and 1 is a transparent or translucent crystal glass provided behind the display panel 2. Alternatively, it is a window made of transparent or semi-transparent resin such as acrylic resin whose surface has been hardened, and serves as a light collecting means. 8 is a watch band.

It is fixed at 35.

The curved surface of the reflector 13 is designed so that external light incident through the window 1 is reflected and reaches the display panel 2 most efficiently. According to the inventors' experiments, this reflective plate 1
3 with respect to the horizontal plane could range from approximately 5° to 40°. Note that if the bottom surface of the window 1 is formed into an appropriately curved surface, this surface is polished and vitrified, and then a reflective layer is formed by AI vapor deposition or the like, the independent reflective plate 13 as described above becomes unnecessary. Reference numeral 14 designates a flexible insulating film substrate, on the lower surface of which wiring is provided using a metal thin film, and an LSI 5, a crystal oscillator, and other necessary electrical components are fixed to form the drive circuit section 5.

The LSI 6 is a crystal oscillator, 17, 17, . . . are capacitors, and 4 is a battery. One end of the wiring of this film substrate 14 where the lead terminal 18 is provided is bent and connected to the display panel 2 via the conductive rubber 19.
The other end is bent upward along the slope of the reflector 13 and extends to the battery storage case 20 . Battery storage case 2
0 is fixed to the watch case 11. 20 is the back cover of the watch.

As described above, the liquid crystal wristwatch of the present invention includes the display panel 2, the reflector 13, the drive circuit section 5}, and the battery 4.
They are arranged parallel to each other on a plane on the back cover 21, and the front display part and the rear power supply part are separated by the inclined reflector 13, so compared to conventional transmission type watches of this type, the display area is significantly smaller. It is possible to realize a thin watch. Further, as shown in the exploded view in FIG. 3, the window 1 and the watch case 11 are integrally formed, and the window is opened in the display area, and the protective glass 12,
A display panel 2, a reflector 13, a film substrate 14 having conductive rubber 19 attached to its bent portion, and a battery storage case 2.
0 and the back cover 21, the device can be easily assembled. Therefore, it is extremely easy to assemble and disassemble, the manufacturing process is simplified, and it is easy to disassemble and repair. Further, by using a dichroic polarizing plate as a polarizing plate of a display panel, color display becomes possible. Furthermore, since the display panel is inclined at an angle of approximately 70 degrees with respect to the horizontal plane, there is almost no need to rotate the wrist when the watch is worn on the wrist. At this time, sufficient external light enters and a bright display can be obtained.
