Abstract

PURPOSE:To change the thickness of a display line corresponding to the pen pressure of a input pen tip by providing a mechanism detecting the movement of pin chip in 3 stages. CONSTITUTION:In applying coordinate input while the pin tip 6 of an input pen 5 is depressed onto an digitizer 7, the pen tip 6 is moved in the inside of the pen in response to the pressing force. Since switches 1, 2 are provided in the pen along a moving direction, the switch 1 is turned on with pen-up, when the pen is depressed strongly, the switch 2 is turned on and when the pen is deprssed weakely, both the switches 1, 2 are turned off. Thus, when both the switches 1, 2 are turned off, a fine line is drawn and when the switch 2 is turned on, a thick line is drawn by activating a data processing circuit 9 and the result is outputted to a picture memory 10.

When using a pen with such a configuration, as shown in Figure 6, the pen is considered to be in a down state until the writing pressure becomes low and the contact point 3 contacts the switch 2. When "cutting out" lines, the lines are displayed longer than necessary, as shown in FIG. 8(A). For the type shown in Figure 7, the moment the pen pressure becomes low, the contact point 3
is removed from switch 2, so it is considered that the state has shifted to the pen amplifier state. Further, the period from when pen pressure is applied until the contact point 3 contacts the switch 2 is considered to be a pen-up state. Therefore, the beginning and end of the input line are

With this configuration, when the input pen 5 starts inputting, pressure is applied to the pen tip 6 of the input pen 5 to press the paper surface, and the switch 1 is released from the contact point 3.
In the data processing circuit 8, a signal from the digitizer control circuit 8 that detects a point on the coordinates of the digitizer 7 is processed as a thin line, inputted to the image memory 10, and displayed on the CRTll.

When the input pen 5 is configured as shown in FIG. 1, when pressure is applied to the pen tip 6, the contact 3 releases the switch 1, so that the display starts immediately, and when the switch 2 and the contact 3 are in contact, If there is no pen pressure when writing, the contact 3 will be released from the switch 2, but because of the presence of the switch 1, the line being input will not be interrupted and will be displayed. Also switch 1, 2
Since the data from the digitizer can be divided into thick lines and thin lines by the signal output from the digitizer, a display similar to the input image as shown in FIG. 4 can be performed.
