Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the mechanical strength of a fuse by embedding and sealing a casing in a freely outlined synthetic resin irrespective of the form with a casing, a cap and a lead, together with the neighboring parts of the cap and the lead.
CONSTITUTION: A small tubular casing 1 has both ends sealed with caps 2 having soldered middle layers 7, in such a manner that a fusible conductor is extended to a diagonal or axial direction in a free space in the casing 1, and its ends are conductively jointed to the caps 2 having the soldered middle layers 7. The neighboring parts 3 of leads 4 are conductively fixed to the outside end faces of the metal caps 2. Such a fuse is embedded and sealed in a fully synthetic resin 5 to which the neighboring parts 3 of the leads 4 to the caps 2 are also connected together. In this way, the mechanical strength of the fuse is improved, the breaking capacity of the fuse is increased, and the burst of the fuse can thus be eliminated when high short-circuit load is applied to the fuse.
