PURPOSE:To improve precision, to improve cutting force, and to enable execution of lap cutting, by a method wherein a chip, produced by sintering a diamond and a cubic boron nitride green compact by using metallic powder serving as a binder, is welded to a notch part, formed between slits, by laser. CONSTITUTION:Slits 2 each formed in an arbitrary shape are provided in a band sheet 1 at equal intervals, and a notch part 3 is formed between slits 2 and 2. A chip 4 produced by sintering a diamond or a cubic boron nitride green compact by using metallic powder serving as a binder is engaged with the notch part 3, and a contact part 5 between the notch part 3 and the chip 4 is welded by laser or electronic beam. Thus, only the contact part 5 between the band sheet 1 and the chip 4 is thermally influenced by welding, and a most of other part not necessary to welding is completely prevented from being exercised by a thermal influence.
