PURPOSE:To constitute an optical channel subsystem so that a response to a connection request from an I/O device is delayed without delaying the processing time of an I/O instruction. CONSTITUTION:When a connection request is generated from an I/O device (IO) 400, a remote channel device (RCH) 300 informs the connection request to a center channel device (CCH) 200 and the CCH 200 receiving the information of the connection request goes to a busy state and outputs a connection permission to the RCH 300. The RCH 300 receives the connection permission and executes connection with the IO 400. At the time of disconnecting the connection with the IO 400, the RCH 300 checks whether a new connection request is generated from the IO 400 or not, and at the time of generating a new connection request, informs the contents to the CCH 200 and executes the new connection with the IO 400 without waiting the permission of connection from the CCH 200. On the other hand, the CCH 200 receiving the information indicating disconnection from the IO 400 holds its busy state when information indicating the arrival of a new connection request from the IO 400 is informed together with said disconnection information and does not output a connection permitting instruction to the RCH 300.
