Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a spherical and fast carrier superior in surface smoothness by spraying a material melted without using any solvent, cooling and solidifying it, and using the obtained spherical particles for the core particles of the carrier, and coating them with a specified coating material. CONSTITUTION:The carrier material composed essentially of a resin, preferably, such as polyester, or polyolefin having a molecular weight of 500-20,000 and fine particles of a magnetic material, such as Fe3O4, gamma-Fe2O3, various ferrite powders, chromium oxide, or various metal powders, are mixed and heated, and directly sprayed in a molten state, and cooled in a comparatively low- temperature air stream to form the spherical particles. They are used for the core of the carrier, and each core particle is coated with a resin coating layer containing a positively chargeable compound, thus permitting the almost perfectly spherical fast carrier particles superior in surface smoothness to be obtained.
