Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a resin composition excellent in impact strength, chemical properties, thermal properties and moldability, by mixing a modified polyphenylene ether with a polyamide and two specified copolymers. CONSTITUTION:A polyphenylene ether (a) of the formula (wherein R1-2 are each a 1-4C alkyl or a halogen, and n>=50) is reacted with 0.3wt.%, based on component (a), unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride (b) in the presence of at least 0.1wt.%, based on component (a), radical generator (c) to obtain a modified polyphenylene ether (A) having carboxyl and/or carboxylic acid anhydride groups as part of substituents. 10-90wt.% component A is mixed with 10-90wt.% polyamide (B) of an average MW of 5,000-100,000, 1-40wt.% epoxy olefin copolymer (C) obtained from at least one unsaturated glycidyl monomer and at least one olefinic unsaturated monomer and 1-40wt.% polyolefin or olefinic copolymer and an acid anhydride-containing olefin copolymer obtained from component (b).
