Abstract

PURPOSE:To manufacture an extra-high-temp. and -pressure steam turbine rotor excellent in strength at high temp., by subjecting a steel having a specific composition consisting of C, Si, Mn, Ni, Cr, Mo, V, Al, Ti, B, and Fe to solution heat treatment and then to multistage aging treatment. CONSTITUTION:A steel having a composition consisting of, by weight, 0.01-0.05% C, 0.1-0.5% Si, 0.3-0.9% Mn, 25-27% Ni, 14-16% Cr, 1-1.5% Mo, 0.1-0.5% V, 0.05-0.3% Al, 1-1.7% Ti, 0.002-0.008% B, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities is subjected to solution heat treatment and then to three-stage aging treatment. By this method, the extra-high-temp. and -pressure steam turbine rotor excellent in strength at high temp., reduced in the occurrence of freckles, improved in toughness and ductility, and having stable material quality can be obtained. This rotor can withstand high-temp. and high-pressure conditions where the temp. and the pressure of the main steam are as high as about 600-700 deg.C and about 4,000-5,000psi, respectively.
