Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent the gluing of a lid from being impeded by an offset inhibitor by providing a means which limits the coating of the offset inhibitor to a fixing roller which contacts the glued surface of the lid of an open envelope. CONSTITUTION:Fixing rollers 10a and 10b are coated with the offset inhibitor 72 normally by an offset inhibitor coating means and a toner image on a transfer body to be fixed contacts the upper fixing roller 10a contacting it to preclude such an offset phenomenon that the image sticks again on the transfer body and lower fixing roller 10b. When the open envelope is passed, limiting means 81 and 85 operate to limit the coating of the offset inhibitor 72 to the fixing roller 10b which comes into surface contact with the glued surface 41c of the open lid to suppress the sticking of the offset inhibitor 72 on the glued surface 41c of the open lid. Consequently, the gluing is not impeded by a closure state.
