Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain a pressure-sensitive adhesive excellent in biocompatibility and adhesive strength, substantially nonirritating and noneruptive to the skin and suitable for medical articles, by mixing a composite of an elastomer with gelatin with a tackifier and a solvent. CONSTITUTION:100pts.wt. elastomer (a) (e.g., PS/polyisoprene/PS block copolymer) is kneaded under heating with 20-80pts.wt. gelatin (b) of an average MW of 2,000-100,000 and a mean particle diameter <=200mum at 120-130 deg.C for 20-30min and optionally washed and extracted by immersion in boiling water and dried to obtain a composite material (A). 100pts.wt. component A is mixed with 50-150pts.wt. tackifier (B) (e.g., petroleum resin), a solvent (C) (e.g., toluene) and, optionally, a plasticizer, a filler, etc., (D).
