Abstract

Un proceso para la extracción de cobre a partir de una mena o concentrado de cobre sulfuroso comprende las etapas de someter la mena o concentrado a lixiviación pro agitación a una temperatura y presión elevadas para obtener un líquido resultante de al lixiviación ácida que contiene cobre disuelto y reduciendo la acidez del líquido resultante de la lixiviación ácido efectuando la lixiviación por percolación de un lecho de roca granulada o mena de cobre de bajo grado, con el líquido ácido de lixiviación. En una ejecución, la lixiviación pro agitación se efectúa en presencia de oxigeno y agua para obtener un líquido de lixiviación ácida que contiene sulfato y cobre no disuelto. En otra ejecución, la lixiviación por agitación comprende una primera etapa de lixiviación a temperatura y presión elevadas, en presencia de oxigeno y una solución ácida de cloruro como lixiviante y una segunda etapa de lixiviación a presión atmosférica con una solución ácida de sulfato. En una ejecución preferencial, el lecho de roca granulada o mena de cobre que contiene cobre de bajo grado, está en forma de un montón y la lixiviación por precolación es un proceso de lixiviación de montón. El cobre es extraído del líquido de lixiviación mediante extracción del disolvente. La extracción del disolvente es efectuada antes o después de la neutralización del montón, dependiendo de la naturaleza de la mena o concentrado de cobre que se están tratando.
