Abstract
THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A COLOURED SODA-LIME GLASS. THIS GLASS CONTAINS AT LEAST 5 PARTS PER MILLION BY WEIGHT OF CO AND FROM 0.5 TO 0.9% BY WEIGHT OF FE2O3. THE AMOUNT OF FERROUS IRON BY WEIGHT OF FE2+ ATOMS WITH RESPECT TO THE TOTAL WEIGHT OF IRON ATOMS PRESENT IN THE GLASS IS BETWEEN 25 AND 45%. IT FURTHERMORE CONTAINS CHROMIUM AND/OR VANADIUM. THE GLASS HAS A LIGHT TRANSMISSION TLA4 OF BETWEEN 20 AND 60%, AN ENERGY TRANSMISSION TE4 OF BETWEEN 10 AND 50% AND A DOMINANT WAVELENGTH IN TRANSMISSION OF LESS THAN 491 NM. THIS GLASS IS PARTICULARLY SUITABLE FOR FORMING BLUE-COLOURED GLAZING FOR MOTOR VEHICLES.
