A method of producing sodium acrylamide-acrylamide copolymer, in aqueous solution, by hydrolysis with sodium hydroxide of an aqueous solution of acrylamide-containing copolymer, characterized in that the aqueous solution of methyl acrylate-acrylamide copolymer is hydrolyzed, with the amount of sodium alcohol used for the hydrolysis being equal to the molar number of ester groups in the copolymer. 2.
