Abstract

The subject of the application is a method of obtaining five-membered cyclic carbonates from polyether polyols, which consists in reacting the polyether polyol with epichlorohydrin in the presence of a catalyst at a temperature of 70 to 100 ° C in the first stage, and in the second stage carrying out dehydrochlorination with hydroxide at a temperature of from 40 to 60 ° C. In the third step, cycloaddition of gaseous carbon dioxide is carried out at a temperature of 70 to 140 ° C. As substrate, poly (trimethylene glycol) of natural origin with an average molecular weight of 250 to 2700 g / mol is used, and the third step is carried out at atmospheric pressure with a controlled gas flow rate of 20 to 100 ml / min.
