1426610 Making memory cores VYCHISLITELNY TSENTR SIBIRSKOGO OTDELENIA AKADEMII NAUK SSSR 23 Oct 1973 [11 Dec 1972 18 Dec 1972] 49358/73 Heading B3A Apparatus for feeding cores 5, e.g. for computer ferrite memory stacks, wherein the cores are already threaded on a series of parallel wires 7 and are threaded on to further wires 17 forming rows of the matrix at a threading position, comprises a batcher in the form of a roller 2 having a longitudinal groove 4 for receiving the cores and at least one groove 9 for receiving the wires, the roller being provided with at least one additional wire 8 which divides the groove 4 into sections, the length of each section being less than the diameter of the cores. The roller 2 is rotated by a handle 3 and the cores drop into the groove 4 and are retained in it by tension in the wires 7. The cores are accurately located in the groove by the wire 8, which is helically wound around the roller. Alternatively a plurality of wire rings (13), Fig. 3 (not shown), may be used and each ring (13) is located in a groove (12) formed in the roller surface. Cores of different diameters may be accommodated in the groove 4 by varying the diameter of the wire 8 or of the rings (13). The roller may be hollow and the groove 4 connected to a vacuum source via the hollow, thereby speeding the entry of the cores into the groove and removing dirt from it.
