Abstract

A self-oscillating D.C. voltage converter is proposed for supplying loads which can exhibit a short circuit and/or require a constant supply current. The circuit arrangement includes a transformer (N) with a primary winding (N1), a secondary winding (N3) for supplying a load and a secondary winding (N2) as a control winding. The primary winding is connected to a D.C. voltage source through a switching transistor (Q1) and a current measuring element (R3). An additional control transistor (Q2) is switched by the voltage drop at the current measuring element (R3) the control transistor acting on the switching operations of the switching transistor (Q1) in the same sense as the control winding (N2), limiting the peak current (I1) to a predetermined value, introducing the feedback operation and reducing the losses in the switching transistor (Q1) due to the enlargement of the flank slope on variation of the switched primary current (I1). <IMAGE>
