Abstract

A web repeater (B) checks the compression format of the HTML files (a-c) being transferred from the server (C) to the client's computer (A) in order to see whether it can improve the compression, and if so, the files are (re)compressed before being sent to the client's computer, where they are decompressed prior to being displayed on screen.
