Abstract

A video recorder and a video-signal recording and playing method are used with an external video source for generating an external video signal and a display. The external video source includes a first video section, a second video section and a third video section. The device includes a control circuit and a storage medium. The video recorder receives and transforms the external video signal into video data of another format, which is then recorded in the storage media. In response to a first label signal in the first and second video sections and a second label signal of the second and third video sections, a start label and an end label are generated in the video data and recorded in the storage medium. When the video recorder plays the video data recorded in the storage medium and reads the start label, it jumps to or seeks the end label to go on the playing operation.
