The present invention relates to a sanitary pad supporter belt, and has for an object to provide a device of this characterwhich will be of very simple construction, economical to manufacture, and capable of meeting the exacting requiren'ients of such devices in a highly eiiicient and satisfactory manner. Another object is to provide a device of this character which will be inconspicuous and comfortable in use, will adapt itself to the tively narrow elastic webbing arranged side by side and cross-stitched together for a. short distance at each end, the cross stitching being 7 so arranged that it will yield in a longitudinal direction and at the same time will permit free expansion and contraction of the longitudinal elastic threads of the webbing.

Another object is to provide such a device in which the elastic webbing is free of transverse stitching which would tend to cut the elastic threads and impair uniform expansion and contraction, and also to so arrange the webbing that it will lie flat on the body at all noints and retain its proper position under the varying strains and pulls to which such devices are subjected.

Other objects are to provide a device of this character which is free of metal parts, will lend itself to convenient and compact packaging, and will fit various sizes of wearers over a relatively large range.

\Vith the above and other objects in view an embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, and this embodiment will be hereinafter more fully described with reference thereto and the inclaims.

In the drawing Fig. 1 is a plan view of the device, according to the present exemplary embodiment of the invention.

Referring to the drawing, the supporter belt, according to the illustrated exemplary embodiment of the invention, comprises two equal lengths of elastic webbing 1010 arranged side by side and secured together for a short dist-anceat each end by a longitudinally extending line of cross-stitching 11, the extent of this stitching defining the'length of the elastic end'tab portion. A folded tab end 12 is secured at each end by transverse stitching 13, and is adapted to carry a safety pin 14, as shown in Fig. 1, for attaching the sanitary pad or napkin. The tab end 12 is preferably formed of a rectangular piece of cloth, folded inalong its longi tudinal edgesand then folded upon itself, as clearly indicated inFig. 4. As shown in Fig. "8 this tab may also have its ends folded in, as at16.

The elastic webbing vention will be finally pointed out in the 10 is of well linown type, having a plurality of longitudinally extending threads of rubber 15, as shown in Fig. 5, the rubber threads at each edge being somewhat larger in diameter than the intermediate threads, and the weave of the web-bing being such that it has freeexpansion and contraction longitudinally. According to my invention the relatively wide elastic end portions, formed as integral continuations of the relatively narrow interme-' diate belt portions, will also have free expansion and contraction longitudinally. To this end the cross-stitching 11 is preferably of zig-zag form adapted to freely expand and contract longitudinally, as shown in Fig. 3,

and in connecting the edges of the webbing is carried between the edge rubber thread and the next adjacent rubber thread so that there is no impairment to the free elastic action of the webbing, and the chance of cutting the rubber threads and thus damaging the web bing is eliminated. It will thus be seen that the relatively wide end tab portions and the relatively narrow belt portions are freely elastic from end to end of the device, and there is a complete absence of transverse seams, non-elastic inserts and metal parts, such as have been found in devices of this nature heretofore in use. I am thus enabled to obtain a device which will be uniformly smooth at all points and free from objectionable bulges and wrinkles, and which at the same time will yield to every movement of the body and snugly conform to its natural configuration. As the narrow elastic belt portions are extended at an angle to the rela tively wide elastic tab portion as shown in Figs. 3 and 6, the natural and uniform stretch given to the webbing in use will allow the m-aterial to assume a relatively sharp angle at the junction of the belt and tab portions while at the same'time remaining flat, so that there will be no puckering orbulging at these points.

WVhen not in use the device is in the form of a. flat straight strip as shown in Fig. 1, and may be very conveniently packed in a neat and compact package.

The, stitching 13 is illustrated as of the same type as the stitching 12, particularly as this type of stitching will not out the rubber threads at the ends of the webbing, but it will be understood that any suitable stitching may beemployed at this point. For instance, in Fig. 9 I have shown ordinary machine stitch-- ing 17, the ends of the tab being shown as folded in at 15, in this embodiment. The arrangement of the tab 12 and the transverse stitching securing it to the webbing is such that the pull exerted on the tab is distributed evenly to the elastic webbing.

I have illustrated and described preferred and satisfactory embodiments of my invention, but it will be obvious that changes may be made therein, within thespirit and scope thereof, as defined in the appended claims.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a sanitary pad supporter, front and rear tab portions and belt portions comprising a pair of parallel strips of elastic webbing having parallel inner and outer edges and arranged side by side in the same plane and secured together at each end along their adjacent inner edges in parallel relation to their outer edges to form said tab portions of single thickness and being unsecured between said tab portions to form belt portions.

Ina sanitary pad supporter, a front and rear tab portions and belt portions comprising a pair of similar parallel strips of elastic webbing having parallel inner and outer edges and arranged side by side in the same plane and secured together at each end along their adjacent inner edges in parallel relation to their outer edges to form said tab portions of double width and single thickness and being unsecured between said tab portions to form belt portions of single width.

In a sanitary pad supporter, front and rear tab portions and belt portions comprising a pair of parallel strips of elastic webbing arranged side by side in the same plane and secured together at each end along their adjacent edges bylongitudinally extensible stitching to form said tab portions and being unsecured betweensaid tab portions to form belt portions.

4. In a sanitary pad supporter, front and rear tab portions and belt portions comprising a pair of parallel strips of elastic webbing having longitudinally extending elastic threads, said webbing being arranged side by side in the same plane and secured together at each end along their adjacent edges by longitudinally extensible stitching to form said tab portions and being unsecured between said tab portions to form belt portions, said stitching extending transversely across said edges and through said webbing between said elastic threads.

5. In a sanitary pad supporter, front and rear tab portions and belt portions comprising a pair of parallel strips'of elastic webbing having parallel inner and outer edges arranged side by side and secured together at each end along their adjacent inner edges in parallel relation to their outer edges to form said tab portions of single thickness and being unsecured between said tab portions to form belt portions, and end tabs secured transversely to said front and rear ta portions.
