To all whom tt may concern:

Be it known that I, ROLLIN M. TICHENOR,

Y ot' Springville7 in the county of Erie and State ot' New York, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Wheels; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and ligures of reference marked thereon.

Figure 1 of the drawings is a longitudinal section of the hub. Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same, showing some of the spokes in position.

This invention relates to improvements in hubs for vehicle-wheels.

The invention consists in the construction hereinafter set forth.

ln the annexed drawings, A is an axle-box, threaded exteriorly at both ends, as shown at a a.

' 'B is the outer portion of a sectional hub, havin g the point-band b, swell b, and spoke-ange b2 in one piece. Frompthe last there projects, at the center, a sleeve, b3.

O is the inner portion, the sand-band c and swell c. being in one piece and the spoke-flange c2 separate, formed as a disk, with the bore c3 to receive the axle-box, and a bead, c5, fitting under swell c', The flanges b2 and t2 aredished lzoward their centers,t`orming the circular flares The spokes D have their tenons d dovetailed, as shown. These spokes are seated in a ring, with their tenons resting on the sleeve b3, and the hub is screwed tight, clasping the spokes firm.

On the inner face of flange b2 are formed projections b5, which come between the spokes and keep outer portion, B, from turning when the other portion is moved. These projections b5 Ithe ends, outer hub portion, B, having a spokeflange, b2, provided with circular flare b4 and sleeve b3, inner hub portion, C, the spoke-flan ge of which is separate and has the are c4 and bead c5, and spokes D, with dovetailed tenons I, substantially as described.
