SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 440,150, dated November 11, 1890. Application filed March 28, 1890. Serial No. 345,651. (No model.)

To all whom it may concern.-

Beit known that I, GRACE MARION HAWES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Birchardville, in the county of Susquehanna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Dish- Washers, of which the following is a full and clear description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 represents my invention for holding the cloth for washing dishes. Fig. 2 represents the same with cloth in position for use and the handle in section.

The object of my invention is to furnish a cheap but eifective means for holding a cloth used for washing of dishes; and it consists of the devices hereinafter fully explained, and specifically pointed out in the claim.

To enable others skilled in the art to make and use myinvention,I will proceed to explain the manner in which I have carried it out.

In the drawings, A represents a single wire of any desirable size, bent into the form shown in the drawings, thus forming two loops, the one within and at right angles to the other. The two ends of the wire are extended, as shown, on which to place the handle B, one end being bent into a loop C, by which the washer may be hung up when not in use.

When in use, the cloth D is first drawn through the outer loop 1, and then the ends are passed around to the opposite side and in opposite directions through the inner loop 2. In this position the cloth is firmly held in place while washing. When the washing is completed, the ends of the cloth should be withdrawn from the inner loop 2, and the washer hung up by the loop 0 to allow the cloth to drip and dry at option.

To add strength, rigidity, and convenience to the device,I place the handle B on the extended wires, as shown in the drawings.

As an improved article of manufacture, a dish-washer formed of single wire and provided with the loops 1 and 2, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
