UNITED STAT-Es PATENT OEETCE.
ADOLPII LEDERER, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
FINGER-lame.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 549,674, dated November 12, 1895.
Application led May 1l, 1895l Serial No. 548,980. (No model.)
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ADOLPH LEDERER, of the city of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Finger-Rings 5 and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part 0f this speciiication.
This invention relates to improvements in fin ger-rin gs.
` The object of theinvention is to so construct a linger-ring that a plurality of the same may be interlocked to form a composite ring. Another object is to reduce the cost of manufacturing finger-rings.
The invention consists in so constructing a complete 1in ger-ring that it may be used separately or may be combined with a similar ring to form a composite ring having segregable parts.
The invention also consists in the peculiar construction of the ring, together with such other novel features and combination of parts, as may hereinafter be more fully described, and pointed out in the claims.
Figure 1 represents an edge view of the compositering formed by the combination of the improved sections. Fig. 2 represents a side view of the same. Fig. 3 represents a plan view thereof. Fig. 4 represents a similar view of the separated sections, each forming a complete ring.
Similar numbers of reference designate corresponding parts throughout.
K In carrying my invention into practice it has been my desire to reduce the cost of finger-rings by reducing the number of dies or other special tools necessary in the construction of the rings, by so constructing a fingerring that While it may be used as a complete ring it may also be combined with other similar parts or sections to form a composite ring.
In the drawings, the ring is composed of a spiral band 5, the portion 6 and the tail 7 of which are separated by a space and are connected by a head or bezel 8 to receive the jewel- setting 9 or 10, this head overlapping the tail 7, so that a channel is left between the portion 6 and tail 7 to receive the tail portion 7 of a similar ring. By this construction the rings can be made with the use of but a single set of tools and can be sold separately or may be combined to form a ring having a larger spread along the linger. By the use of different-colored stones in the settings various pleasing combinations may be made.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. A finger or similar ring consisting of a spiral band the ends of which are separated one from the other, one of said ends extending laterally from the general plane of the band and overlapping the opposite portion of the band at a distance from its end.
2. A finger ring having the spiral band 5 the end portions of which are separated a distance equal to the width of the same, the laterallyextending overlapping head 8 which connects the separated portions of the band, and the tail 7 extending beyond the head and separated from that portion of the band from which the head 8 extends.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
ADOLPII LEDERER.
