- SEGTIONAL ELECTRI CAL BWI'IGHEOARD.
-. "m 861,587. Specification of Letters Patent. Patented July so, 1907.
lqipliulth'm filed July 1 1. 1906. Serial No. 3259717 To all. whom it may concern: Be it known that I, WILLIAM D. Gnsvns, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Wheeling, county of Ohio, and State of West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful 1mprovements in Sectional Electrical Switchboards, of which the following is a specification. My invention relates to hewand useful improvements in switchboards, andrnore particularly'to asectional switchboard; and it consists in the particular construction, arrangement, and combination of parts whichw-ill hereinafter fully described.
The object of my invention is to provide a sectional electrical switchboard andsectional bus-bars "therefor, the same being adapted to be made or builded to any size and to have sections added thereto as occasion requires or as necessity demands.
As is well known, electrical switchboards are com cases, switchboards of odd, or special, sizes must be constructed. This renders it practically impossible sizes of switchboards for which orders may bereceivcd.
By my invention I provide a construction of switchard which obviates the necessity of any dealer carrying in stock alarge variety of sizcsof switchboards, since it is formed of like sections which may be quickly and conveniently fitted together and electrically connectedto form a board m any desired size. I I
In describing the invention in detail, reference is herein had to the accompanying drawings, forming apart-oi this specification, in which Figure 1 is a front elevation of my invention; Fig. 2 is a side, or edge, view of abroken section of the same, showing the switches removed; and. Fig. 3 is an elevation of a section of a' bus-bar. Referring to-said drawings, in which like reference-- numerals designate like parts throughout the several views-1 indicates a main panel section carrying a main switch 2 for connection with a main line or cirsponding bus-bars 6 of the panels or 'unit sections. Each of said sections 9 consists of a straight bodyportion 10, a downward arid forward bond 11 at a suitable angle near one end thereof, and said-end 12 parallel to, and in a plane substantially the thickness of the bar below said body-portion The opposite end 13 of each sectionv Q-is adapted yto rest upon the end 12 of the next adjacent section with its upper face flush with the face of the bodyportion 10 of said adjacent section. The extreme and 13 is beveled or shaped to correspond with the angle of the bend 11, so that wherfseveral sections 9 unbroken surface or face, as shown in'Fig. 2, and said bar forms a continuous and uninterrupted electrical path.
Slightly elongated apertures 14 are provided. in
oachend of the sections 9, through which the ordinary" screws 15 are projected into the posts 8 to secure them 1. In a device of the character described, the comblnation with a sectional cuit, and 3 and 4 are likeauxiliary, or unit, sections placed side by side and adapted to have still other like sections joined thereto. Each unit section is provided with the ordinary'switches- 5 for connection with distributing circuits, and also with suitable conductors for connecting the-corresponding terminals lengthwise of the unit sections, of bus-bars 7, which extend transversely across the unit sections, and of the ordinary contact-posts 8 which connect said bus-' dinal adjustment of said sections.
composed of a plurality adapted to receive the plain ,end of the next adjacent section to form a continuous and uninterrupted electrical closely against the bend of the next adjacent section, and each section having slots or elongated screw-holding apertures therein.
Signed by me in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM D. GRAVES. Witnesses:

made in sections 9 which join or connect the correi H. L. PORTER.
are joined together, the bus-bar presents a plain and 2. In a device of the character described, a bus-bar path said plain end having its extremity beveled to fit
