Abstract
A construction element comprising a core (1) of a material having low specific weight and optionally serving as a thermal insulation, a reinforcement (3) at least on two sides of the core (1), and a hardenable mass (2), that is optionally applied after installation on site on the sides of the core that are provided with a reinforcement. Said mass comprising the reinforcement is mechanically connected with the core by discrete attachment members extending to or into said core in such a manner that the attachment members from different sides of the core do not touch. A method of producing said construction element is stated.
Description
A BUILDING CONSTRUCTION ELEMENT AND A METHOD FOR THE PRODUCTION THEREOF.
The present invention relates to a construction element as stated in the introductory part of the following claims. The invention also refers to a method of producing said construction element.
There are known construction elements the opposite reinforcement nettings of which are mechanically and galvanxcally connected by a continudus metal wire extending vertically in a zigzag pattern between the opposite reinforcement, nettings. Thus, vertical trusses are formed between the opposite reinforcement nettings. An expanded polystyrene insulation is provided between said trusses. After installation a hardenable mass, e.g. concrete or plaster, is provided on both sides of the element.
Construction elements of this kind are manufactured under the trade name Impac Panel by Covington Brothers Building Systems, U S A. These construction panels, however, have the disadvantage that said continuous wire between the reinforcing nettings forms a thermal bridge, which is unsatisfactory from an insulation point of view, especially in cold regions. Also, the manufacture of said known panel is complicated.
An object of the present invention, thus, is to avoid the disadvantages of the known construction element. According to the invention the reinforcement, e.g. reinforcing irons, is mechanically connected with the core by attachment members, e.g. straps, extending obliquely or diverging into said core or an
adhesive. According to another feature of the invention there must be no contact between the attachment members from various sides of the core.
According to the present invention said construction element is manufactured as follows:
At least on two sides of said core a reinforcement, e.g. a reinforcing iron netting is provided, adjacent or at a distance from the core; the reinforcement is attached to said core by attachment members, provided on or in said core in such a manner that the attachment members from the different core sides do not touch; and the core with its reinforcement, is, if desired, after installation on site provided with a hardenable mass, e.g. concrete so that said mass envelopes the reinforcement.
Further features of the invention will appear from the claims.
The present invention will now be described with reference to the attached drawing.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view through a practical embodiment of a construction element according to the invention.
Fig. 2 illustrates how attachment members may be provided according to the invention.
Fig. 3 illustrates a modification of the construction element according to fig. 1.
The core 1, e.g. a cellular plastic material, is provided continuously if desired, over the entire length of the construction element. The reinforcements 3, e.g. reinforcing iron nettings, are provided on each side of said core adjacent or at a distance from the core surfaces. The reinforcement 3 is secured by attachment members 4, e.g. straps, that are forced into said core in such a manner that the free strap ends diverge,
and that the straps do not touch. Then, a hardenable mass 2 is applied to the sides of the construction element, if desired after it has been installed on site. Said hardenable mass may e.g. be concrete.
The attachment members 4, e.g. straps, may optionally be provided as indicated in fig 2, i.e. in a regular manner. When strap 4 is forced in it will be deformed in points 6.
The core, e.g. of a cellular plastic material, may consist of polystyrene or another suitable low density material that can serve as an insulation.
Fig. 3 shows a modification of the construction element, where the reinforcement 3' is provided in the mass 2' that is applied and where the attachment members 4' with one end project into the core 1 and with the other end project into the reinforced mass 2'.
