Description

PROFESSIONAL CASE

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention improves the mobility of professionals which do not have a permanent workplace and depend on the availability of special tools and instruments at the workplace. These professionals move from one workplace to another within short time. One of their problems is the transportation of their books, tools and instruments and the accessibility of the same at the workplace. Using conventional tool cases requires unpacking at the arrival and packing of the books, tools and instruments for departure. During working time the books, tools and instruments are quite often loosely distributed around the workspace. The present invention provides for a tool and instrument case which serves as a case as well as a storage for the devices at the work space. Providing proper compartments and a suitable arrangement of the compartments invites the user to restore the books, tools and instruments after usage and keep them handy for access.

In the description of the preferred embodiment a tool case of a draftsperson is described. Other similar cases have

been designed for navigators, calligraphers, artists, painters, students architects, engineers and medical professionals. However, the principle demonstrated in the preferred embodiment can easily be applied to other applications, such as video games and home computers, in which the case has special pockets for the keyboard, the cables, special controls, exchangeable printed circuit boards and program cartridges, cassettes and diskettes.

DESCRIPTION OF THE FIGURES

FIGURES 1A and IB are illustrations of a hand carried instrument and tool case for a draftsperson.

FIG. 2 is an illustration of the subdivision of the tool and instrument case for a draftsperson.

FIG. 3 is an illustration of the folded case.

FIG. 4 is an illustration of a compartment for storing paper tissues.

FIG. 5 is an illustration of a professional case having a removeable case insert for additional books, tools and instruments.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

FIGURES 1A and 1B are illustrations of a tool and instrument case of the present invention having a back section 1, a front section 2 and a folding section 3 connecting back section 1 with front section 2. Back section 1 as well as front section 2 carry complementary parts 5 and 6 of a zipper which provide for closing the case during transportation of the instruments, books and tools. In order to protect the stored items both back section 1 and front section 2 include on the outside protective covering 30, resp. 31 consisting of quilted padding. At the top of back section 1 there is a small loop 32 which allows to hang the case on a hook. Two handles 34 and 35 at front section 2 and back section 1 are provided for transporting the case in its folded state. Two loops 36 and 37 are provided on the outside of the case for transporting a protective tube 38. Folding section 3 may include a stiffener and protective studs to prevent damage to covering, (see FIG.6)

Loops 36 and 37, and handles 34 and 35 are made from one strap to relief the weight of a tube 38 placed in loops 36 and 37 from the three sections 1, 2, and 3 of the case. Loops 36 and 37 are located at front section 2. Back section 1 and front section 2 have compartments on the inside to receive the various instruments and tools used in the craft for which the case is designed.

All items stored in the case are readily available to the user. All compartments are arranged so that no item can fall out of any compartment, whether the case is hung straight or backwards folded as shown in FIGURES 2 and 3. The case can be hung from a hook or rack either by use of handle 35 or loop 32.

FIG.4 is an illustration of a case designed for draftspersons. Top section 1 has a plurality of compartments, which are listed below: compartments for triangular rulers , 10 and 11; compartment for large templates, 12; compartment for large triangles, 13; compartment for french curves, 14; compartment for storing lead holders, 15; compartment for storing an eraser shield, 16; compartment for storing a lettering guides, 17; compartment for storing a handbrush, 18; compartment for storing spare lead boxes, 19; compartment for storing a pointer, 20; compartment for storing adhesive tapes, 21; compartment for storing paper tissues, 22.

front section 2 includes a large compartment 23 for receiving note pads, sketching papers, books and similar items.

The various types of compartments are specially adapted to receive the mentioned books, tools and instruments.

Compartments for adhesive tapes, pointers, and other thick devices have gussets 24. The compartment for paper tissues has a first opening 25 for inserting a pack of tissues 40 and a second opening 26 for removing single tissues 41 from the pack, (see FIG. 4)

All corners of the case have protective heavy duty woven strapes 27 to reduce wear.

FIG.5 is an illustration of a case having a removeable insert. The number of pockets for carrying instruments and tools can be expanded by a removable insert 60. Insert 60 is attached to the case by snap buttons 61 and 62. Snap buttons 61 attach the lower end of insert 60 to the middle section 58 of case 59. Snap buttons 62 on straps 63 keep insert 60 upright with back section 64 while case 59 is opened. Insert 60 can be separated from case 59 by use of snap buttons 61 and 62. A separated insert 60 can be used as an independent case. In FIG. 5 insert 60 has two compartments 65 and 66. Gussets 67, 68 and 69 provide expansion capability for placing books or other thick items in the compartments. Insert 60 may have handles similar to handles 70 and 71 of the case or other means for hand carrying insert 60 removed from its case (not shown). FIG. 6 is an illustration showing the protective studs 72 of a case 73 with a stiff folding section 74.

Claims

WHAT I CLAIM IS:

CLAIM 1: A case for transporting and storing books, tolls or instruments comprising, an back section having an inside and an outside and a first plurality of compartments for receiving first books, tolls or instruments; a front section having a inside and an outside and a second plurality of compartments for receiving second books, tolls or instruments; a folding section connecting said back section with said bottom section and providing means for folding said top and said front section; a zipper having a first zipper tape, a second zipper tape and a slide for linking or delinking said first zipper tape and said second zipper tape; said first zipper tape attached to said inside of said back section in close proximity to the outer edge of said back section, said second zipper tape attached to said inside of said front section in close proximity to the outer edge of said front section, said back section and said front section in folded position and said first zipper tape linked with said second zipper tape constituting a closed case; a first loop being attached to said back section, a second loop being attached to said front section, said first and second loops providing means for carrying said case; a third loop attached to said back section and constituting a hanger for said case; said first and second plurality of compartments including at least one compartment for receiving flat tools, and at least one compartment having gussets for expansion to receive bulky tools or instruments, and at least one compartment having a first opening for storing tools and a second opening for removing tools, and at least one compartment having means for closing off the opening of said compartment.

CLAIM 2: A case for transporting and storing tools or instruments as claimed in claim 1 further comprising fourth and fifth loops being attached to the outside of said front section for receiving a protective tube.

CLAIM 3: A case for transporting and storing tools or instruments as claimed in claim 1 wherein said first and second loops are made from the same straps attached to the outside of said top and front section and said folding section.

CLAIM 4: A case for 'transporting and storing tools or instruments as claimed in claim 2 wherein said first, second and fourth and fifth loops are made from the same strap attached to the outside of said top and front section and said folding section.

CLAIM 5: A case for transporting and storing tools or instruments as claimed in claims 1, 2, 3, or 4, wherein said top section, front section and said folding section further comprising padding for protecting said books, tolls or instruments.

CLAIM 6: A case for transporting and storing books, tools or instruments as claimed in claim 1, further comprising an auxiliary holder for books, tolls or instruments, and means for removeably connecting said holder to said folding section and said back section, whereby said back section, said front section and said folding section of said case with said zipper closed encloses said auxiliary holder.
