Furthermore, the present invention relates to polymers comprising at least two identical or different peptides according to the invention, as well as conjugates which comprise the peptides and / or polymers according to the invention. Furthermore, mixtures are described which comprise the peptides and / or polymers of the invention and are used in methods to detect anti-HHV8 antibodies in a very sensitive and specific manner. - KS Kaposi's sarcoma
- AIDS-associated KS is characterized by an aggressive course and high mortality, while the course of the disease in classic KS is usually relatively indolent and slowly progressive.
- Other forms of this disease are the so-called "endemic" KS, which mainly occurs in children and adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa, and the iatrogenic KS in immunosuppressed transplant recipients.
- KS was first described as a relatively rare tumor more than 100 years ago, which mainly occurred in older men of Mediterranean or Eastern European origin (2). Externally, KS manifests itself through sharply defined, nodular lesions of the skin, mostly in the area of the extremities; the lesions are also observed on the mucous membranes and viscera. Characteristic histological feature these lesions are the presence of elongated, spindle-shaped cells, presumably of endothelial origin. There are also a number of other cell types such as
