Abstract

Cette invention concerne un procédé et un câble supraconducteur offrant une protection contre les surintensités, un détecteur d'intensité qui comprend un coupe-circuit ou un limiteur d'intensité inséré en série avec le câble supraconducteur, détecteur d'intensité qui peut être constitué de matériau supraconducteur réduisant l'intensité à un niveau inférieur à celle du conducteur de câble du câble supraconducteur. Lorsque l'intensité dans le matériau supraconducteur est trop élevée, elle est entraînée pendant une courte période vers un circuit en parallèle froid relié aux conducteurs de câble du câble supraconducteur. Après cette courte période, l'intensité est entraînée vers un circuit en parallèle chaud relié à l'extérieur des conducteurs de câble du câble, permettant ainsi la dissipation de la chaleur qui doit être effectuée à température ambiante. Ce procédé et ce câble de l'invention permettent d'empêcher la destruction du câble qui surviendrait si ce câble perdait sa supraconductivité, par exemple à cause d'un problème de refroidissement, et le fonctionnement normal peut rapidement reprendre sans qu'il soit nécessaire de réparer des dommages.
