- the other end 36 of the spring 32 is free and extends tangentially towards the outside relative to the hub 16 to bear, when the lever 12 is returned to its rest position, on a fixed stop 38 carried by the support 10. In the vicinity of this position, the support of the end 36 of the spring on the fixed stop 38 causes the spring to loosen on the hub 16 and allows the hub 16 to rotate relative to the lever 12.

- An unlocking rod 44 is mounted in the lever 12 and is controlled by a push button at the free end of the lever to pivot the pawl 42 and release it from the toothed sector 40 when the push button is pressed, thus making it possible to return the lever 12 to the rest position.
- one end 50 of the tension spring 48 is hooked on the flange 20 of the lever 12, for example in the vicinity of the fixing of the other end 34 of the spring 32.
- the other end 52 of the tension spring 48 is also shaped as a hook which engages in a groove or a small groove in the end 36 of the spring 32.
- the spring 48 need not exert a high tension on the free end 36 of the spring 32. A tension of the order of ION or even lower is sufficient.
- a torsion spring 54 shown diagrammatically in dotted lines in FIG. 2 is used in place of the tension spring 48, which is wound on the outside of the clutch spring 32 in the opposite direction to that of the spring 32 and which is fixed or which bears at its ends on the flange 20 and on the end 36 of the spring 32 so as to tend to tighten the latter on the hub 16 when the rotation of the lever 20 deviates from the stop 38 the end 36 of spring 32.
- the invention therefore makes it possible, by a simple, inexpensive and easily adaptable means to pre-existing hand brakes, to ensure correct operation of the hand brake under all of the conditions for actuating the latter.
