Abstract

Ein Verfahren zur Detektion eines bestimmten Materials wie z.B. Sprengstoff ineinem Objekt (1), insbesondere in einem Gepäckstück, mittels elektromagnetischer Strahlen, bei denen die itensitäten von nicht absorbierten trahlen aus mindestens drei Strahlenebenen (5.1 - 5.2) in zugeordneten Detektoranordnungen (4.1 - 4.5) gemessen und ausgewertet werden, wird nach der Erfindung mit folgenden Verfahrensschritten durchgeführt: Erstellen zumindest eines zwei-dimensionalen Bildes des Objektes (1) aus den gemessenen intensitätswerten, Selektion eines auf dem Bild abgebildeten räumlichen Gebietes auf grundlage der effecktiven Ordnungszahl Zeff, Bestimmung des Volumens des zu überprüfenden Gebiets aus Positionsdaten eines zwei-dimensionalen Bildes und aus Intensitätsewerten unter Verwendung z.B. des Massenschwächungskoeffizienten eines vermuteten Materials, Zusätliche Bestimmung des volumens allein aus drei-dimensionalen goemetrischen Werten, die aus gemessenen Intensitätswerten ermittelt werden, Direktes oder indirektes Vergleichen der in den Schritten 3 und 4 bestimmten Volumina oder von Werten einer daraus abgeleiteten Grösse, Um festzustellen, ob das vermuttete Material tatsächlich vorhanden ist.
