Definitions
- the present invention relates to a method and a device for driving the shuttle of a shuttle embroidery machine, in which the respective shuttle is moved forwards and backwards, wherein it is guided through a loop of the needle thread during the forward movement.
- the shuttle is driven by drivers. These are pins that move the shuttle forward or backward. With today's machines, the forward movement is upward and the backward movement is downward.
- the boat is not clamped between the drivers. Rather, there is a gap between the upper driver and the front of the boat. This is necessary so that the driver does not hold the needle thread when the boat passes through the loop.
- the above-mentioned distance between the shuttle and driver means that the drivers hit the shuttle each time the movement is reversed.
- the method according to the invention is characterized in that during the forward and backward movement the shuttle is always held by a gripper, namely by a first gripper that engages the rear of the shuttle or a second gripper that engages the front of the shuttle, and that at the forward movement the transfer of the shuttle from the first gripper to the second gripper takes place approximately in half of the passage of the shuttle through the loop of the needle thread. Since the shuttle is always firmly connected to a gripper during its movements, there are no noise-generating and wear-promoting blows.
- the respective gripper expediently clamps the boat for transport. This still allows a relative movement between the gripper and the boat if correspondingly high forces occur after gripping. But it would also be possible to hook the boat with the gripper.
- the movement curves of the grippers can be designed as in FIG. 1.
- the boats While in the case of commercially available machines, the boats are moved on boat tracks raised at an angle of 75 degrees, in the present method the boats can also be moved vertically. This has the advantage that, with a constant needle-to-needle distance, more space is available for the respective boat and can therefore be dimensioned larger to accommodate a larger bobbin. This increases the runtime. This increase is significant because the thread length of the bobbin increases with the square of the bobbin diameter.
- the invention also relates to a device for driving the shuttle in a shuttle embroidery machine, in which the respective shuttle by a
- the device according to the invention is characterized in that the drive mechanism has a first gripper, which can engage the rear part of the boat, and a second gripper, which can engage the front part of the boat, and that control means are provided which transfer the boat from the the first gripper to the second gripper approximately in half the passage of the boat through the loop of the needle thread.
- the respective gripper has a stationary and a movable gripping jaw, the movable gripping jaw is prestressed in the direction of the stationary gripping jaw by spring means and the control means have curves which transfer the boat from one gripper to the other gripper open a gripper.
- An expedient embodiment of the invention provides that a large number of first grippers can be moved back and forth from a first gripper rail and that a large number of second grippers can be moved back and forth from a second gripper rail.
- the first grippers can expediently be uncoupled from the first gripper rail. This enables the shuttle to be shut down if an embroidery site is not embroidering.
- Figure 1 is a schematic representation of the ship Chenantriebs and
- FIG. 2 the shuttle drive
- FIG. 3 shows a side view of the ship's drive from FIG. 2, slightly enlarged
- Figure 4 is a perspective view of the boat at
- FIG. 5 shows a plan view of the object from FIG. 4,
- the shuttle drive has a lower gripper rail 11 and an upper gripper rail 13.
- the lower grippers 15 can be coupled to the lower gripper rail 11.
- the upper grippers 17 are fastened to the upper gripper rail 13.
- Linear guides 19 (only one is shown) serve to guide the gripper rails 11, 13.
- the back and forth movement of the gripper rails 11, 13 expediently serve cam discs (not shown).
- the drive of a gripper rail 11, 13 can be carried out in the same way as the drive bar of conventional embroidery machines.
- each gripper rail has a separate drive.
- the lower gripper rail 11 has the stroke curve 21 and the upper gripper rail 13 has the stroke curve 23.
- the stroke curves touch.
- the shuttle is transferred to the upper gripper 17 in approximately half of its passage through the loop of the needle thread during the forward movement of the lower gripper 15, as will be explained in more detail later.
- the linear guides 19 are arranged in the usual way at an angle of 75 degrees to the plane in which the needles are located.
- an arrangement at an angle of 90 degrees proves to be particularly advantageous because, as already mentioned in the introduction, larger boats with larger bobbins can then be used.
- FIGS. 2 to 5 The detailed structure of the drive mechanism for the shuttle 27 can best be seen from FIGS. 2 to 5.
- Figure 2 corresponds to the mechanism of Figure 1.
- FIG. 3 also shows the needle plate 29, which has been omitted in FIGS. 4 and 5 for a better overview.
- 5 shows the needle 31 and the loop 33 of the needle thread.
- the lower gripper 15 has a stationary gripping jaw 35 and a movable gripping jaw 37.
- the gripping jaw 37 is against the stationary by a spring 39 Gripping jaw 35 preloaded. In Figure 4, therefore, the shuttle 27 is clamped at the rear by the lower gripper.
- the upper gripper 17 has a stationary gripping jaw 41 and a movable gripping jaw 43 which is biased against the stationary gripping jaw 41 by a spring 45.
- the control means for the grippers are curves 47, 49, which open the one gripper when the shuttle 27 is transferred from one gripper to the other gripper.
- the upper gripper 17 and in Figure 5 the lower gripper 15 is in the open position.
- FIGS 6a, b The shuttle 27 is moved upwards by the lower gripper 15 and grips the loop 33 of the needle thread.
- FIGS. 7a, b With the further movement upward, the movable gripping jaw 43 is opened by the curve 47 and the shuttle 27 is pushed from the lower gripper 15 into the upper gripper 17.
- Figures 8a, b When the boat 27 moves further upwards, the upper gripper 17 is closed and the lower gripper 15 is opened. The transfer from the lower gripper 15 to the upper gripper 17 has thus taken place.
- Figures 9a, b The shuttle 27 has soon reached the upper reversal point and then moves down again. The transfer of the shuttle 27 from the upper gripper 17 to the lower gripper 15 then takes place approximately in the middle of the downward movement.
- the lifting curves 21, 23 shown in FIG. 1 are designed such that the grippers 15, 17 do not hinder the passage of the boat 27 through the loop 33.
- the upper gripper 17 is at a distance from the shuttle 27 when the tip of the shuttle grasps the loop 33.
- the lower gripper 15 is at a distance from the end of the shuttle when the loop 33 slides over the end of the shuttle and is pulled back by the thread guide.
- the shuttle 27 is held erroneously by a gripper 15, 17 during operation so that blows are avoided and the noise level of the embroidery machine is kept low.
- the passage of the shuttle 27 through the loop of the needle thread is not hindered by the grippers 15, 17, because the shuttle 27 is moved upwards by the lower hook 15 until it is approximately halfway through the loop, whereupon the shuttle from the upper hook 17 is taken over.
- the device for driving the boat has two cams with different movement curves 21, 23 for the grippers 15, 17, which control the transfer of the boat from the lower gripper 45 to the upper gripper 17.
