この発明は、互いに相対回転自在に設けられた 2部材間の環状 隙間をシールするためのシールリ ングに関する。 背景技術
従来、 この種のシールリ ングは、 たとえば、 自動車の自動変速 機等の油圧装置に用いられている。
以下、 図 1 0〜図 1 3を参照して、 従来技術に係るシールリ ン グについて説明する。図 1 0は従来技術に係るシールリ ングの平 面的模式図である。図 1 1は従来技術に係るシールリ ングの装着 した状態を示す模式的断面図である。
また、 図 1 2は従来技術に係るシールリ ングの模式図である。 そして、 図 1 2 Aは模式的一部平面図、 pl l 2 Bは図 1 2 Aの b b断面図、 図 1 2 Cは図 1 2 Aの c方向から見た側面図である。 図 1 3は従来技術に係るシールリ ングの切断部の斜視図である。 この切断部は、 特殊ステップカッ トである。
図示のシールリ ング 1 0 0は、軸孔が設けられたハウジング 2 0 0 と、この軸孔に挿入された軸 3 0 0 との間の環状隙間をシー ルするためのものである。 また、 このシールリ ング 1 0 0は、 軸 3 0 0に設けられた環状溝 3 0 1に装着されて使用される。
また、 シールリ ング 1 0 0は樹脂材料から形成される。 そして 、 このシールリ ング 1 0 0は、 軸 3 0 0に設けられた環状溝 3 0 1の側壁面をシールする第 1 シール面 1 0 1 と、ハウジング 2 0 0に設けられた軸孔の内周面をシールする第 2シール面 1 0 2 と、 を備えている。
そして、 図 1 1 中矢印 P方向に圧力がかかると、 シールリ ング 1 0 0は非密封流体側 Aに押圧される。 なお、 矢印 P方向とは、 密封流体側 Oから非密封流体側 Aに向かう方向である。
これにより、第 1 シール面 1 0 1は環状溝 3 0 1 の側壁面を押 圧する。 また、 第 2 シール面 1 0 2はン、ウジング 2 0 0に設けら れた軸孔の内周面を押圧する。 このよ うにして、 各シール面は、 それぞれの位置でシールする。
以上のよ うに、 シールリング 1 0 0は、 密封流体の非密封流体 側 Aへの漏れを防止していた。
ここで、 密封流体は、 例えば潤滑油である。 特に自動車の変速 機に利用される場合には、 密封流体は A T Fを指している。
また、 シールリ ング 1 0 0のリ ング本体には、 図 1 0に示すよ うに、 周方向の一ヶ所に切断部 S 0が設けられている。 この切断 部 S 0を設けた理由の一つは、組み込み性の向上を図るためであ る。
このよ うな切断部 S 0の形態と しては、様々なものが知られて いる。 この形態の一例としては、 図 1 3に示したよ うに、 2段ス テップ状に力ッ トされた特殊ステップカツ トがある。この特殊ス テップカッ トを有するシールリ ングは、周囲温度の変化によって も好適に対応することがで.きる。 その理由は、 次の通りである。 この特殊ステツプカッ トによれば、円周方向に垂直な面同士が 円周方向に対して隙間 T Oを形成する。 そして、 この特殊ステツ プカッ トを有するシールリ ングは、 この隙間 T 0を有しつつ、 密 封流体側と非密封流体側とを遮断する構成である。 これにより、 リング本体が熱によって膨張しても、密封状態を維持しつつ隙間 T 0 の分だけ寸法の変化量を吸収できる。 従って、 この特殊ステ ップカッ トを有するシールリングは、周囲の温度変化に対しても 密封性能を維持することができる。
以上のようなシールリング 1 0 0においては、シールリング 1 0 0 と軸 3 0 0 との相対回転の際に、第 1シール面 1 0 1 と環状 溝 3 0 1の側壁面との間に生じる摩擦によって、両者がそれぞれ 摩耗してしまっていた。 このような現象は、 特に軸 3 0 0がアル ミニゥム合金等の軟質材である場合に多く発生していた。
その理由の一つとして、第 1 シール面 1 0 1 と環状溝 3 0 1の 側壁面との間には、潤滑油による潤滑膜が形成されにくいことが 挙げられる。 特に、潤滑油中に存在する異物がこれらの間にかみ 込まれたり、摩耗粉がこれらの間に蓄積したりする場合には、 よ り一層摩耗が激しくなっていた。
また、 シールリ ング 1 0 0が高圧力 ·高回転下で使用された場 合には、 シールリ ング 1 0 0 と軸 3 0 0 との相対回転により、 第 1 シール面 1 0 1 と環状溝 3 0 1 の側壁面が摩擦熱によつて高 温になってしまう。 これにより、 シールリング 1 0 0が溶解して しまうこともある。
このような摩耗を低減させるための技術と して、例えば、 特開 平 9一 9 6 3 6 3号公報に開示された技術がある。 この技術は、 密封流体である潤滑油を第 1 シール面 1 0 1 と環状溝 3 0 1 の 側壁面との間に供給させるための溝を設けている。この溝を設け ることによって、これらの間に潤滑膜を形成させることができる 。 従って、 耐摩耗性が向上する。 この技術について、 図 1 2を参照して説明する。 図 1 2に示す ように、第 1シール面 1 0 1に密封流体側 Oと非密封流体側 Aと を連通する連通溝 1 0 1 aを設けている。 これにより、密封流体 側〇の潤滑油を連通溝 1 0 1 aに漏れさせる。 そして、 第 1シー ル面 1 0 1が環状溝 3 0 1 の側壁面に対して摺接する際に、これ らの間に潤滑膜が形成される。 このようにして、 シール面の潤滑 状態が改善され、 耐摩耗性の向上が図られている。
また、 上記連通溝 1 0 1· aは、潤滑膜を形成する機能だけでな く、 次の機能も発揮する。 すなわち、 連通溝 1 0 1 aは、 潤滑油 中に存在する異物や、摩耗により生じた摩耗粉を、 非密封流体側 Aに排出させる機能を発揮する。 これにより、 第 1シール面 1 0 1 と環状溝 3 0 1の側壁面との間に、これらの異物や摩耗紛がか み込まれないようにすることができる。 また、 上述した潤滑膜が 形成されることは、 シール面を冷却する効果もある。 以上のよう に、 連通溝 1 0 1 aを設けることで、 耐摩耗性の向上を図ること ができる。
なお、 一般的には、 連通溝 1 0 1 aの断面形状は、 矩形 (α = 9 0 ° ) である。 ただし、 特開平 9一 9 6 3 6 3号公報には、 成 形時に生じるバリの除去を考慮して、 α = 9 0 ° を越えて 1 8 0 。 未満、 好ましくは 1 2 0 ° 〜1 3 5 ° と記載されている。 発明の開示
上述した従来技術に係るシールリングにおいて、シール性能を 維持するためには、連通溝 1 0 1 aからの潤滑油のリ一ク量をあ る程度に抑える必要がある。 そのためには、溝幅や溝の深さをで きるだけ小さく しなければならない。 従って、連通溝 1 0 1 aを設けることによって耐摩耗性が向上 するとはいうものの、 完全に摩耗を防止するものではない。 その ため、 経時的に摩耗が進行することによって、 連通溝 1 0 1 aの 深さは徐々に小さくなる。 従って、 異物等の排出能力 (コンタミ 排出能力) や潤滑膜の形成能力は経時的に低下する。
そして、 さらに摩耗が進行すると、連通溝 1 0 1 aへの経路が 遮断される。 すると、 連通溝 1 0 1 aへの潤滑油の供給がなされ なくなってしまう。 そして、 この供給がなくなると、 異常摩耗が 生じてしまう という不具合が発生する可能性がある。
この点について、 図 1 4を参照して、 さらに詳しく説明する。 図 1 4は従来技 に係るシールリングについて、長期使用により 摩耗が進行した状態を示す模式的断面図である。
図 1 4に示すように、 環状溝 3 0 1の側壁面は、第 1 シール面 1 0 1の摺接部分のみが摩耗する。 従って、 摩耗した分だけ、 シ ールリング 1 0 0は、環状溝 3 0 1の側壁面の元の位置より も内 部側へと押し込まれていく ことになる。
従って、連通溝 1 0 1 aの底面が、環状溝 3 0 1の側壁面の摩 耗されていない面まで達すると、 図 1 4中矢印 Xに示すように、 連通溝 1 0 1 aへの経路が遮断される。 従って、潤滑油の供給が なされなくなる。
この問題を解決するために、 本出願人は、 特開 2 0 0 1 — 1 6 5 3 2 2号公報に開示された技術を提案している。この技術では 、 図 1 5に示すように、切断部 S 0の特殊ステップカツ ト部に面 取り部 1 0 1 bを設けて、 潤滑油の漏れ経路を形成している。 し かし、 この技術では、異物の排出が効果的に行われない可能性が ある。 ここで、 図 1 5においては、 上部に切断面 Aの位置を示し 、 下部に断面を模式的に示している。
本発明の目的は、長期にわたり安定したシール性能を維持する ことである。 また、 本発明の目的は、 コンタミの排出性を向上す ることにある。 また、 本発明の目的は、 品質性を向上することで める。
上記目的を達成するために本発明にあっては、
同心的に相対回転自在に組付けられる 2部材の一方の部材に 設けられた環状溝に装着されて、該環状溝の非密封流体側の側壁 面に摺接されると共に他方の部材に圧接して、これら 2部材間の 環状隙間をシールするシールリングであって、
リ ング本体には周方向の一ヶ所にて切断された切断部が設け られ、
前記切断部の一方の切断端部には凸部が設けられ、かつ他方の 切断端部には該凸部に係合される凹部が設けられたシールリン グにおいて、
前記環状溝の側壁面に対する摺接面における環状溝深さ方向 全域にわたって開放端を有する流路であって、かつ密封流体側か ら前記環状溝の非密封流体側の側壁面に向けて密封流体の漏れ を許容する流路を、前記切断部の一方の切断端部と他方の切断端 部とを合わせた際の対向面間に備えるとともに、
前記凸部の外壁面のうち隣接する 2つの外壁面の交わりの角 に、 稜線方向に略直交する断面形状が、 四角形以上の多角形ある いは略扇形の溝を設け、該溝と前記凹部の対応する角との間にで きる隙間によって前記流路の一部を形成することを特徴とする。 本発明の構成によれば、流路は環状溝深さ方向全域にわたって 開放端を有する。 これにより、環状溝の側壁面に対する摺接面の 全域に密封流体の膜が形成される。 従って、 耐摩耗性に優れる。 また、 流路は搢動のない位置にあるので、 流路が経時的に変化す ることはない。 従って、 安定した密封流体の供給が可能となる。
さらには、 流路の一部を、 その断面形状が四角形以上の多角形 あるいは略扇形の溝としているので、有効断面積を大きくするこ とができる。 これにより、 潤滑油中の異物、 摩耗粉の排出性を向 上することができる。 また、密封流体を効率的に漏らすことで摺 動面を効果的に冷却することができる。 これらの点からも、 耐摩 耗性を向上することが可能となる。
また、同心的に相対回転自在に組付けられる 2部材の一方の部 材に設けられた環状溝に装着されて、該環状溝の非密封流体側の 側壁面に摺接されると共に他方の部材に圧接して、これら 2部材 間の環状隙間をシールするシールリングであって、
リ ング本体には周方向の一ヶ所にて切断された切断部が設け られ、
前記切断部の一方の切断端部には凸部が設けられ、かつ他方の 切断端部には該凸部に係合される凹部が設けられたシールリ ン グにおいて、
前記環状溝の側壁面に対する摺接面における環状溝深さ方向 全域にわたって開放端を有する流路であって、かつ密封流体側か ら前記環状溝の非密封流体側の側壁面に向けて密封流体の漏れ を許容する流路を、前記切断部の一方の切断端部と他方の切断端 部とを合わせた際の対向面間に備えるとともに、
前記凸部の外壁面のうち隣接する 2つの外壁面の交わりの角、 及び前記凹部における該角に対向する隅に、 それぞれ、 稜線方向 に略直交する断面形状が、四角形以上の多角形あるいは略扇形の 溝を設け、これらの溝によってできる隙間によって前記流路のー 部を形成することを特徴とする。
本発明の構成によれば、流路は環状溝深さ方向全域にわたって 開放端を有する。 これにより、 環状溝の側壁面に対する摺接面の 全域に密封流体の膜が形成される。 従って、 耐摩耗性に優れる。 また、 流路は摺動のない位置にあるので、 流路は経時的に変化す ることはない。 従って、 安定した密封流体の供給が可能となる。
さらには、 流路の一部を、 その断面形状が四角形以上の多角形 あるいは略扇形の溝を凸部の角と凹部の隅にそれぞれ設けるこ とで形成している。 従って、 有効断面積を大きくすることができ る。 これにより、 潤滑油中の異物、 摩耗粉の排出性を向上するこ とができる。 また、密封流体を効率的に漏らすことで摺動面を効 果的に冷却することができる。 これらの点からも、 耐摩耗性を向 上することが可能となる。
また、 前記他方の切断端部にも、前記一方の切断端部に設けら れた構成と同一の凸部が設けられ、 かつ、 前記一方の切断端部に も、該他方の切断端部に設けられた構成と同一の凹部が設けられ ているようにすると好適である。 図面の簡単な説明

以下に図面を参照して、この発明の好適な実施の形態を例示的 に詳しく説明する。 ただし、 この実施の形態に記載されている構 成部品の寸法、 材質、 形状、 その相対配置などは、 特に特定的な 記載がない限り は、この発明の範囲をそれらのみに限定する趣旨 のものではなレ、。
(第 1の実施の形態)
図 1〜図' 6 を参照して、本発明の第 1 の実施の形態に係るシー ルリ ングについて説明する。
まず、 図 1および図 2を参照して、 本発明の第 1の実施の形態 に係るシールリ ングの全体構成等について説明する。
図 1は本発明の第 1 の実施の形態に係るシールリ ングの模式 的平面図である。図 2は本発明の第 1の実施の形態に係るシール リ ングの装着した状態を示す模式的断面図である。
本実施の形態に係るシールリ ング 1は、 図 2に示すよ うに、 同 心的に相対回転自在に組付けられた 2部材間の環状隙間をシー ルする。 ここで環状隙間とは、 軸孔が設けられたハゥジング 9 0 と、 この軸孔に揷入された軸 8 0 との間の環状隙間である。 そし て、 シールリ ング 1は、 軸 8 0に設けられた環状溝 8 1 に装着さ れて使用される。 '
シールリ ング 1 は、第 1 シール面 2 と第 2シール面 3を備える 。 そして、 第 1 シール面 2は、 軸 8 0 (—方の部材) に設けられ た環状溝 8 1の側壁面 8 1 a をシールする。 また、 第 2シール面 3は、 ハウジング 9 0 (他方の部材) に設けられた軸孔の内周面 9 0 aをシ一ルする。
そして、 図 2中矢印 P方向に圧力がかかると、 シールリ ング 1 は非密封流体側 Aに押圧される。 なお、 矢印 P方向とは、 密封流 体側 Oから非密封流体側 Aに向かう方向である。 これにより、 第 1 シール面 2は環状溝 8 1 の (非密封流体側 Aの) 側壁面 8 1 a を押圧する。 また、 第 2シール面 3はハウジング 9 0に設けられ た軸孔の内周表面であって、環状溝 8 1に対向する部分を押圧す る。 このようにして、 各シール面は、 それぞれの位置でシールす る。
以上のように、 シールリング 1は、密封流体の非密封流体側 A への漏れを防止するものである。
なお、 本実施の形態における密封流体は、潤滑性を有する流体 を意味する。 以下の説明では、 密封流体が、 潤滑油である場合を 例にして説明する。
本実施の形態に係るシールリ ング 1のリング本体には、図 1に 示すように、周方向の一ヶ所に切断部 Sが設けられている。 この 切断部 Sを設けた理由の一つは、組み込み性の向上を図るためで ある。
この切断部 Sの形態は、 2段ステツプ状にカツ トされた、特殊 ステツプカッ トである。この特殊ステップカッ トを有するシール リ ングは、周囲温度の変化によっても好適に対応することができ る。
以下、 この切断部 Sについて、 図 3〜図 6を参照して詳しく説 明する。図 3は本実施の形態に係るシールリングの装着状態を示 す斜視図かつ一部破断断面図である。 なお、 この図 3では、 切断 部付近を透視して示している。図 4は本実施の形態に係るシール リングの切断部を示す模式的斜視図である。図 5 Aは切断部をそ れぞれ引き離した状態を示す模式的斜視図であり、図 5 Bは切断 部に形成される溝を示す模式的斜視図である。図 6 A〜 Cは切断 部における各部の断面を示す説明図である。 なお、 実際には切断 部における各切断端部では上記図 1にも示した通り、曲率を有し ている。 しかし、 説明の便宜上図 4〜図 6においては曲率をなく して模式的に示している。
切断部 Sにおいては、 リ ング本体が切断されることにより、一 方の切断端部と他方の切断端部とに分けられる。 以下、 一方の切 断端部を第 1切断端部 4と称する。 また、 以下、 他方の切断端部 を第 2切断端部 5 と称する。これら第 1切断端部 4と第 2切断端 部 5は互いに係合し合うように構成される。
そして、 第 1切断端部 4には、 互いに隣接した凸部 4 1 と凹部 4 2が設けられている。 一方、 第 2切断端部 5には、 上記凸部 4 1 に係合される凹部 5 1 と、上記凹部 4 2に係合される凸部 5 2 がそれぞれ隣接して設けられている。
こ こで、 説明の便宜のために、 図 5に示すように、 凸部 4 1を 形成する壁面 (外壁面) のうち、 最も先端の面を第 1面 4 1 a , 第 1 シール面 2に平行かつ内部側の密着面を第 2面 4 1 b ,第 2 シール面 3 と同心的かつ内部側の密着面を第 3面 4 1 c と称す る。
また、 凹部 4 2を形成する壁面のうち、 周方向に垂直な面を第 4面 4 2 a ,第 1 シール面 2に平行かつ内部側の密着面を第 5面 4 2 b,第 2 シール面 3と同心的かつ内部側の密着面を第 6面 4 2 c と称する。
なお、 第 2面 4 1 b と第 5面 4 2 bは、 同一面上にあるが、 説 明の便宜のため、 別々の名称として説明する。 また、 第 1切断端 部 4の基準となる面を基準面 4 3と称する。
また、 第 2切断端部 5側についても同様に、 凸部 5 2を形成す る壁面 (外壁面) のうち、 最も先端の面を第 1 1面 5 2 a , 第 1 シール面 2に平行かつ内部側の密着面を第 1 2面 5 2 b ,第 2 シ ール面 3 と同心的かつ内部側の密着面を第 1 3面 5 2 c と称す る。
さらに、 凹部 5 1を形成する壁面のうち、周方向に垂直な面を 第 1 4面 5 1 a ,第 1 シール面 2に平行かつ内部側の密着面を第 1 5面 5 1 b ,第 2 シール面 3 と同心的かつ内部側の密着面を第 1 6面 5 1 c と称する。
なお、 第 1 2面 5 2 b と第 1 5面 5 1 bは、 同一面上にあるが 、 説明の便宜のため、 別々の名称と して説明する。 また、 第 2切 断端部 5の基準となる面を基準面 5 3 と称する。
そして、 シールリ ング 1を装着した状態においては、 円周方向 の壁面同士は、 それぞれ密着する。 ここで、 この円周方向の壁面 同士とは、 第 2面 4 1 b と第 1 5面 5 1 b , 第 5面 4 2 bと第 1 2面 5 2 b , 第 3面 4 1 c と第 1 6面 5 1 c、 およぴ第 6面 4 2 c と第 1 3面 5 2 cである。
一方、円周方向に垂直な方向の壁面であって対向する壁面同士 は、 それぞれ隙間 T 1 , T 2, T 3を有するように対向して配置 される。 ここで、 この対向する壁面同士とは、 それぞれ、 第 4面 4 2 a と第 1 1面 5 2 a , 第 1面 4 1 a と第 1 4面 5 1 a、 およ び基準面 4 3と基準面 5 3である。
このように、 特殊ステツプカッ トを有するシールリ ング 1は、 装着状態においては、円周方向の壁面同士がそれぞれ密着するた め、 密封流体の漏れを防止することができる。
また、 円周方向に垂直な方向の壁面同士は、 対向して隙間が設 けられる。 これにより、 シールリ ング 1がハゥジング 9 0に対し て相対的に膨張または収縮したとしても、この隙間を設けた分だ け変化量を吸収できる。 なお、 シールリ ング 1のハウジング 9 0 に対する相対的な膨張または収縮は、これらの部材の材質の違い による線膨張係数の差異によって生ずる。 以上のことから、 この ようなシールリング 1は、周囲の温度変化に対しても好適に密封 性能を維持することができる。
なお、 一般的に、 シールリング 1の素材は樹脂であり、 ハウジ ング 9 0の素材は金属である。 従って、 これらの線膨張係数の違 いから、高温になるとシールリング 1の熱膨張量の方が大きくな つて、 隙間 T 1, T 2 , T 3は小さくなる。
また、 これらの隙間 T 1 , T 2, T 3は、 原則として、 隙間が なくならないように設定される。 また、 T 1および T 2は、 T 3 より も小さくなるように設定される (T 1 = T 2 < T 3 ) 。 これ は、 仮に、 Τ 1および Τ 2の隙間がなく なってしまったとしても 、 確実に Τ 3の隙間を確保するためである。
そして、本実施の形態に係るシールリ ング 1の特徴の一つとし て、切断部 Sで完全に密封流体の漏れを防止しないように構成し たことが挙げられる。 より具体的には、 各切断端部を合わせた際 に、 これら切断端部の対向面間に、密封流体側 Οから環状溝 8 1 の非密封流体側 Αの側壁面 8 1 aに向けて密封流体の漏れを許 容する流路が備えられる構成である。
以下、 この流路を形成する構成等について、 詳しく説明する。 図 5 Aに示すように、第 1切断端部 4に設けられた凸部 4 1に おける、 第 1面 4 1 a と第 1シール面 2 , 第 1面 4 1 a と第 3面 4 1 c , 第 2面 4 1 b と第 3面 4 1 cの交わりの角には、 それぞ れ矩形溝 M l , M 2 , M 3が設けられている。 これらの矩形溝は 、稜線方向に略直交する断面が略矩形状に切り欠かれた溝である 。 ここで、 図 5 Bには、 第 1面 4 1 a と第 1シール面 2 との交わ り角である稜線 Nを示している。 なお、 上記矩形溝を設ける位置 は、凸部 4 1に係合される第 2切断端部 5に設けられた凹部 5 1 と対向するカ 又は環状溝 8 1の側壁面 8 1 aに対向する面 (す なわち第 1シール面 2 ) であって、 互いに隣接する面の交わりの 角である。
同様に、 第 2切断端部 5に設けられた凸部 5 2における、第 1 1面 5 2 a と第 1シール面 2に対向する面,第 1 1面 5 2 a と第 1 3面 5 2 c,第 1 2面 5 2 bと第 1 3面 5 2 cの交わりの角に は、 矩形溝 M 4 , M 5 , M 6が設けられている。 これらの矩形溝 は、稜線方向に略直交する断面が略矩形状に切り欠かれた溝であ る。 なお、 上記矩形溝を設ける位置は、 凸部 5 2に係合される第 1切断端部 4に設けられた凹部 4 2 と対向する力、、又は環状溝 8 1の側壁面 8 1 aに対向する面(すなわち第 1シール面 2に対向 する面) であって、 互いに隣接する面の交わりの角である。
このように、 矩形溝を設けたことによって、 各矩形溝に対応す る凹部の角との間に隙間が形成される。 そして、 この隙間が流路 を形成することになる。
この点について、 図 6を参照して、 さらに詳しく説明する。 な お、 図 6 A〜 Cでは、 凸部 4 1 と凹部 5 1 との係合部における 3 方向からの断面を示している。 なお、 凸部 5 2 と凹部 4 2との係 合部においても同様であるので、 その説明は省略する。
ここで、 図 6 Aにおいては、 上部に切断面 Aの位置を示し、 下 部に断面を模式的に示している。 図 6 B, Cにおいては、 それぞ れ上部に斜視図を示し、 下部に B, C方向からの矢視図をそれぞ れ模式的に示している。 まず、 図 6 Aには、 凸部 4 1 と凹部 5 1 の係合部における、 円 周方向に垂直な断面が示されている。
図示のように、 矩形溝 M 3 と、 これに対応する、 第 1 5面 5 1 b と第 1 6面 5 1 c との交わりの角との間に隙間が形成される。 これにより第 1流路 R 1が形成される。
また、 図 6 Bには、 凸部 4 1 と凹部 5 1 の係合部における、 第 1 シール面 2に平行な断面が示されている。
図示のように、 矩形溝 M 2 と、 これに対応する、 第 1 4面 5 1 a と第 1 6面 5 1 c との交わり の角との間に隙間が形成される。 これにより第 2流路 R 2が形成される。
さらに、 図 6 Cには、 凸部 4 1 と凹部 5 1 の係合部における、 第 2シール面 3に同心的な断面が示されている。
図示のように、 矩形溝 M 1 と、 これに対応する、 第 1 4面 5 1 a と環状溝 8 1の側壁面 8 1 a (図 6では不図示) との交わりの 角との間に隙間が形成される。これにより第 3流路 R 3が形成さ れる。
そして、 上述の第 1流路 R 1, 第 2流路 R 2 , 第 3流路 R 3は 、 それぞれ接続されている。 また、 凸部 5 2と凹部 4 2 との係合 部においても同様の流路が形成されている。 そして、 これらの各 流路によって、 第 0流路 R 0が形成されている。
なお、 凸部 5 2 と凹部 4 2 との係合部においても、 上述の第 1 流路 R 1 , 第 2流路 R 2 , 第 3流路 R 3に対応する流路がそれぞ れ設けられる。 また、基準面 4 3と基準面 5 3 との間に隙間 T 3 を有すること力ゝら、 図 4に示すように、 隙間 T 3から直接第 1流 路 R 1に流入する流路も形成される。
また、基準面 4 3 と基準面 5 3との間に設けられた隙間 T 3に よっても、 第 4流路 R 4が形成される。
ここで、第 0流路 R 0は第 1 シール面 2に対して開放端 K 1を 有し、第 4流路 R 4は第 1 シール面 2に対して開放端 K 2を有し ている。
そして、 開放端 K 1の環状溝深さ方向の領域は図 4, 6中 L a であり、 開放端 K 2の環状溝深さ方向の領域は図 4 , 6中 L bで ある。 このように、 第 1 シール面 2の環状溝深さ方向全域にわた つて、 流路の開放端が設けられている。
従って、第 1 シール面 2の環状溝 8 1の側壁面 8 1 aに対する 搢接面における環状溝深さ方向全域 (図 2中 L 0 ) にわたつて、 流路の開放端が設けられることになる。
以上の構成により、第 0流路 R 0および第 4流路 R 4によって 、 密封流体側〇から密封流体である潤滑油が漏れる。 この際、 流 路の開放端は環状溝 8 1の側壁面 8 1 aに対する摺接面におけ る環状溝深さ方向全域にわたって設けられている。 これにより、 第 1 シール面 2 と側壁面 8 1 a との摺接によって、摺接面全体に 潤滑油の膜が形成される。 従って、 油膜によって、 摺接時の摩擦 力を低下させることができ、 また、摺動面全体を冷却することが できる。
従って、 摺動性能が向上すると共に、'これらの流路を介して潤 滑油中の異物や摩耗粉を排出できるので、 耐摩耗性が向上する。 また、従来、 上述のように摺動する位置に密封流体の漏れを生 じさせるための経路を設ける構成があった。 これに対して、 本実 施の形態に係るシールリ ング 1は、摺動することのない切断部 S に密封流体の漏れを許容する流路が設けられている。 従って、本 実施の形態では、 経時的に流路の形状 (断面形状や寸法など) が 変化してしまうことはない。 従って、 長期にわたり、 安定して密 封流体を供給することが可能となる。 また、潤滑油中の異物や摩 耗粉の排出機能を安定して維持できる。
従って、長期にわたり安定したシール性能を維持することがで き、 品質性が向上する。 また、 軸材質がアルミ合金のような軟質 金属材料であっても好適に使用可能となる。 さらには、従来の樹 脂製シールリングの使用可能 P V条件 ( 2 5〜 3 0 M P a . m / s ) よりも高 P V条件での使用が可能となる。
また、 本実施の形態においては、矩形溝 M 2を設けたことによ つて第 2流路 R 2を形成した。 これにより、 シールリ ング 1が熱 により膨張して、 仮に、 凸部 4 1 の先端面である第 1面 4 1 a力 S 第 1 4面 5 1 aに当接して、隙間 T 2が 0になってしまった場合 でも、 第 2流路 R 2が確保され、 安定して密封流体を供給できる 同様に、矩形溝 M 1を設けたことによって第 3流路 R 3を形成 した。 これにより、 シールリング 1が熱により膨張して、 仮に、 凸部 4 1の先端の面である第 1面 4 1 aが第 1 4面 5 1 aに当 接して、 隙間 T 2が 0になってしまった場合でも、 第 3流路 R 3 が確保される。
また、 第 2流路 R 2および第 3流路 R 3の部分においては、 隙 間 T 2の大きさが変動するため、 流量は安定しない。 従って、 本 実施の形態では、 第 1流路 R 1によって流量を設定している。 すなわち、 必要な流量は、 矩形溝 M 3の大きさによって設定す る。 なお、 第 2流路 R 2およぴ第 3流路 R 3の流量に影響を受け ないように、矩形溝 M 1および矩形溝 M 2は、 矩形溝 M 3より も 大きく設定する。 これにより、 漏れ経路の最小断面積を一定に保 つことができる。 従って、 流量は矩形溝 M 3の大きさのみによつ て決定されることになる。
ここで、 図 6 A〜C示すように、 矩形溝 M 1 , M 2 , M 3の面 積を、 それぞれ、 L 1 X L 2 , L 3 X L 4 , L 5 X L 6 とする。 このとき、 L 1 X L 2は、 L 3 X L 4, L 5 X L 6より も小さく なるように設定している。 ここで、 L l, L 2の大きさは、 切断 部 Sの寸法や使用条件などに対して要求される漏れ量などの制 約を受ける。 この大きさは、 望ましくは、 0. 2〜0. 5 mm程 度である。
また、面取りを設けることにより潤滑油の漏れ経路を形成した 場合 (特開 2 0 0 1 — 1 6 5 3 2 2号公報) においては、 面取り 部の断面が三角形となっている。 これにより、 異物を排出できる 部位は三角形の略中心域と限られてしまう。 従って、 面積の損失 が大きく、 有効面積は小さくなる。 そのため、 異物の排出が効果 的に行われないと考えられる。 一方、 本実施の形態では、 潤滑油 の漏れ経路を矩形溝とした。 従って: 面積の損失は少なくなり、 有効面積は大きくなり、溝の略全域で異物を排出することができ る。
図 7は、 それぞれ断面積が同じとなる、 三角形 C 1 と矩形 D 1 とを比較する図である。三角形 C 1の最大の異物を通すことがで きる領域は C 2であり、矩形 D 1の最大の異物を通すことができ る領域は D 2である。 C 2より も D 2の方が大きいことが図から も分かる。
このよ うに断面積が同じ場合には、断面三角形より も断面矩形 の方が、 異物を排出可能な有効面積が大きくなる。 従って、 断面 矩形の方が、 より大きな異物を排出することができ、潤滑油中の コンタミ排出性が優れる。 また、 潤滑油の漏れに関しても、 断面 矩形の方が効率良く密封流体を漏らすことができる。 従って、 摺 動面をよ り効果的に冷却することができる。 故に、 耐摩耗性がよ り向上し、 摺.動性能がより向上する。
ここで、上記図示の例では流路を形成する溝の断面形状を略正 方形の場合を示した。 しかしながら、 この断面形状は、 長方形や 台形、 あるいは 4角形以上の多角形であれば良い。 これらの断面 形状であれば、断面三角形に比べて有効面積を大きくすることが できるからである。 また、 図 6 Aの上部の切断面の位置に相当す る断面を模式的に示した図 8に示すように、断面形状が略扇形の 溝 M 7 と してもよい。 この場合も、 断面三角形に比べて有効面積 を大きくすることができる。
ここで、 シールリ ング 1 を構成する材料と しては、 耐熱性樹脂 と充填材からなる樹脂組成物を適用することができる。
耐熱性樹脂と しては、 例えば、 ポリ シァノアリールエーテル系 樹脂 (P E N ) , ポリエーテルエーテルケ トン ( P E E K ) 樹脂 等の芳香族ポリエーテルケ トン榭脂,芳香族系熱可塑性ポリイ ミ ド樹脂, ポリアミ ド 4一 6系樹脂, ポリ フエユレンサルフアイ ド 系樹脂,ポリテ トラフロロエチレン系樹脂などを挙げることがで きる。 これらは、 耐熱性, 耐燃性, 耐薬品性に優れ、 優れた機械 的性質を示す樹脂である。
なお、 充填材は、 材料の機械的強度の向上、 耐摩耗性の向上、 低摩擦特性の付与等を目的に配合される。 その材料は、 特に限定 されるものではなレ、。
(第 2の実施の形態)
図 9には、 本発明の第 2の実施の形態が示されている。 上記第 1の実施の形態では、切断端部に設けられた凸部側にのみ溝を設 けて流路の一部を構成する場合を示した。 本実施の形態では、 凹 部側にも溝を設けて、 流路の一部を構成する場合を示す。
その他の構成おょぴ作用については第 1の実施の形態と同一 なので、 同一の構成部分については同一の符号を付して、 その説 明は省略する。
図 9は本発明の第 2の実施の形態に係るシールリ ングの切断 部における断面を示す模式的断面図である。図 9は図 6 Aの上部 の切断面に相当する断面を模式的に示したものである。
図示のように、 本実施の形態では、 凸部'( 4 1, 5 2 ) におけ る隣接する 2つの外壁面 (第 2面 4 1 b と第 3面 4 1 c、 及び第 1 2面 5 2 b と第 1 3面 5 2 c )の交わりの角に稜線方向に略直 交する断面形状が台形の溝 M 8を設けている。
また、 凹部 ( 5 1, 4 2 ) におけるこれらの角に対向する隅 ( 第 1 5面 5 1 b と第 1 6面 5 1 cにより形成される隅、及び第 5 面 4 2 b と第 6面 4 2 cにより形成される隅) にも、稜線方向に 略直交する断面形状が台形の溝 M 9を設けている。
そして、これら溝 M 8 と溝 M 9によつて流路の一部を構成する ようにした。
このように、 凸部側と凹部側のそれぞれに溝を設けて、 これら の溝を合わせた隙間によって流路の一部を形成するようにした。 従って、 上記第 1の実施の形態に比べて、 更に流路面積を大きく することができる。 これにより、 流量をより増やすことができ、 使用条件により潤滑性を高める必要がある場合に有効である。ま た、異物を排出可能な有効面積を、 上記第 1の実施の形態の場合 の構成に比べて更に大きくすることが可能となる。 従って、 コン タミ排出性を更に向上させることができる。
ところで、 凸部あるいは凹部に溝を設けると、 凸部あるいは凹 部の断面積が減少する分だけ、 せん断強度は減少する。 ここで、 本実施の形態では、凸部と凹部それぞれに溝を設ける構成である ため、 必要な流路の有効断面積を得るために、 凸部側あるいは凹 部側に設ける溝の面積は、一方にのみ溝を設ける場合に比べて少 なくて済む。 従って、 本実施の形態の場合には、 せん断強度の低 下を抑制する効果もある。
なお、 図示の例では、 断面形状が台形の場合を説明したが、 台 形に限らず、 4角形以上の多角形あるいは扇形でも良い。 また、 図示の例では、凸部側及び凹部側に設ける溝の形状が同一の大き さ及び形状のものを示したが、それぞれ異なる大きさ及び形状と しても良い。
また、 上記説明では、 凸部と凹部の円弧部分の角及び隅にそれ ぞれ溝を設けて流路を形成する場合を説明した。 これに対して、 凸部と凹部の径方向に切断された部分の角及び隅 (例えば、 第 1 面 4 1 a と第 3面 4 1 c との角及び第 1 4面 5 1 a と第 1 6面 5 1 c との隅)にそれぞれ溝を設けて流路を形成することもでき る。
また、 凸部側には溝を設けずに、 凹部側にのみ溝を設ける構成 も考えられ得る。 産業上の利用可能性
以上説明したように、 本発明により、長期にわたり安定したシ ール性能を維持することができる。 また、 コンタミの排出性も向 上する。 また、 品質性が向上する。

Claims

請求の範囲
1 .同心的に相対回転自在に組付けられる 2部材の一方の部材に 設けられた環状溝に装着されて、該環状溝の非密封流体側の側壁 面に摺接されると共に他方の部材に圧接して、これら 2部材間の 環状隙間をシールするシールリ ングであって、
リ ング本体には周:^向の一ヶ所にて切断された切断部が設け られ、
前記切断部の一方の切断端部には凸部が設けられ、かつ他方の 切断端部には該凸部に係合される凹部が設けられたシールリ ン グにおいて、
前記環状溝の側壁面に対する摺接面における環状溝深さ方向 全域にわたって開放端を有する流路であって、かつ密封流体側か ら前記環状溝の非密封流体側の側壁面に向けて密封流体の漏れ を許容する流路を、前記切断部の一方の切断端部と他方の切断端 部とを合わせた際の対向面間に備えるとともに、
前記凸部の外壁面のうち隣接する 2つの外壁面の交わりの角 に、 稜線方向に略直交する断面形状が、 四角形以上の多角形ある いは略扇形の溝を設け、該溝と前記凹部の対応する角との間にで きる隙間によつて前記流路の一部を形成することを特徴とする シールリ ング。
2 .同心的に相対回転自在に組付けられる 2部材の一方の部材に 設けられた環状溝に装着されて、該環状溝の非密封流体側の側壁 面に摺接されると共に他方の部材に圧接して、これら 2部材間の 環状隙間をシールするシールリングであって、
リ ング本体には周方向の一ヶ所にて切断された切断部が設け られ、 前記切断部の一方の切断端部には凸部が設けられ、かつ他方の 切断端部には該凸部に係合される凹部が設けられたシールリ ン グにおいて、
前記環状溝の側壁面に対する摺接面における環状溝深さ方向 全域にわたつて開放端を有する流路であって、かつ密封流体側か ら前記環状溝の非密封流体側の側壁面に向けて密封流体の漏れ を許容する流路を、前記切断部の一方の切断端部と他方の切断端 部とを合わせた際の対向面間に備えるとともに、 ' 前記凸部の外壁面のうち隣接する 2つの外壁面の交わりの角、 及ぴ前記凹部における該角に対向する隅に、 それぞれ、 稜線方向 に略直交する断面形状が、四角形以上の多角形あるいは略扇形の 溝を設け、これらの溝によってできる隙間によって前記流路のー 部を形成することを特徴とするシールリング。
3 . 前記他方の切断端部にも、 前記一方の切断端部に設けられた 構成と同一の凸部が設けられ、 かつ、 前記一方の切断端部にも、 該他方の切断端部に設けられた構成と同一の凹部が設けられて いる請求の範囲 1または 2に記載のシールリング。
