Abstract

La présente invention concerne un système de communication, une interface réseau et un port de communication incluant un bus local multimédia. Ce bus relie un contrôleur à un ou plusieurs dispositifs multimédias à l'intérieur d'un noeud du système de communication. Le contrôleur diffuse périodiquement aux dispositifs source des signaux d'adressage pour synchroniser la transmission de données partant de ces dispositifs en tenant compte des adresses considérées. Les dispositifs source émettent alors une commande spécifiant le type de données en cours de transmission depuis ce dispositif source dans le canal d'adresse. Le canal reste actif pendant toute la transmission des données, jusqu'à l'envoi de l'adresse suivante par le contrôleur. Chaque canal peut être établi de façon adaptée pour donner plus de souplesse concernant la longueur du canal et les types de données en cours de transfert dans le bus local. On recherche en effet à ne pas avoir à affecter, à chacun des dispositifs connectés au bus local, des créneaux temporels fixes ou à régime défini en fonction de types de données considérés. Selon une autre logique de communication, les créneaux temporels peuvent être dédiés à un type de données particulier. Le bus local comporte une ligne signal et une ou plusieurs lignes de données. Ces lignes de données servent à l'envoi des créneaux temporels de données, la ligne signal servant à l'envoi du signal de synchronisation ainsi que d'au moins un signal de commande par trame. Ce signal de commande, qui correspond au début d'un créneau temporel, sert à signifier un début de paquet ou la suite d'un paquet dans le cas de données en paquet correspondant à ce créneau temporel. Le signal de synchronisation comme le signal de commande peuvent être très petits et ne pas prendre plus d'une impulsion de bit, auquel cas l'octet de synchronisation et l'octet de commande sont contenus à l'intérieur des informations numériques si, par exemple, le bus local utilise plusieurs conducteurs pour les données.The present invention relates to a communication system, a network interface and a communication port including a multimedia local bus. This bus connects a controller to one or more multimedia devices inside a node of the communication system. The controller periodically broadcasts addressing signals to the source devices in order to synchronize the transmission of data from these devices, taking into account the addresses considered. The source devices then issue a command specifying the type of data being transmitted from this source device in the address channel. The channel remains active throughout the data transmission, until the next address is sent by the controller. Each channel can be set up appropriately to give more flexibility regarding the length of the channel and the types of data being transferred in the local bus. We are in fact seeking not to have to assign, to each of the devices connected to the local bus, fixed time slots or with a regime defined according to the types of data considered. According to another communication logic, the time slots can be dedicated to a particular type of data. The local bus has a signal line and one or more data lines. These data lines are used for sending data time slots, the signal line being used for sending the synchronization signal and at least one control signal per frame. This control signal, which corresponds to the start of a time slot, is used to signify the start of a packet or the continuation of a packet in the case of packet data corresponding to this time slot. Both the synchronization signal and the control signal can be very small and take no more than one bit pulse, in which case the synchronization byte and the control byte are contained within the digital information if, for example. for example, the local bus uses several conductors for the data.
