上述した目的を達成するために、 本発明に係る情報表示入力装置は、 画像情報 及び/又は文字情報を表示する表示手段と、 表示手段表面に設けられ表示手段に かかる圧力を検出する圧力検出手段と、 圧力検出手段で検出される信号を表示手 段に表示される画像情報の選択及び/又は文字入力に反映する表示入力制御手段 とを備え、 表示入力制御手段は、 圧力検出手段の一部に文字入力のための仮想入 力キーのキー配列を割り付け、 仮想入力キーの基準位置を示すマーカのみを表示 手段に表示することを特徴としている。
ここで、 表示入力制御手段は、 マーカの表示位置に基づいて仮想入力キーの割 付位置を変更する、 圧力検出手段において所定期間圧力が検出されない場合、 仮 想入力キーを半透明にて可視表示する、 仮想入力キーに対して所定期間圧力検出 が続くと仮想入力キーをマーカのみ残して不可視化する、 圧力検出手段にマーカ の間隔に対応するサイズで仮想入力キーを割り付けてマーカ間隔に相似して仮想 入力キ一のキーサイズを変更する、 圧力検出手段に割り付けられる仮想入力キー のキー位置とずれた位置で所定回数に亘つて圧力が検出されるとずれ位置に正し いキーを合わせるようにキ一間隔を変更する、 といった表示入力制御を行う。 また、 機械式キーボードを設けた場合、 この機械式キーボードからの入力信号 と仮想入力キーからの入力信号とを共通のキーボード信号に変換する信号変換手 段を設けるようにする。
本発明に係る情報表示入力方法は、 画像情報及び/又は文字情報を表示する表 示手段と、 表示手段表面に設けられ表示手段にかかる圧力を検出する圧力検出手 段とを備えた機器の表示手段への接触入力によるグラフィツクユ一ザィン夕フヱ ースのための情報表示入力方法において、 圧力検出手段で検出される信号を表示 手段に表示される画像情報の選択及び/又は文字入力に反映する表示入力制御ェ 程を備え、 表示入力制御工程では、 圧力検出手段の一部に文字入力のための仮想 入力キーのキー配列を割り付け、 仮想入力キーの基準位置を示すマーカのみを表 示手段に表示することを特徴としている。
表示入力制御の手法としては、 マーカの表示位置に基づいて仮想入力キーの割 付位置を変更する、 圧力検出手段において所定期間圧力が検出されない場合、 仮 想入力キーを半透明にて可視表示する、 仮想入力キーに対して所定期間圧力検出 が続くと仮想入力キーをマーカのみ残して不可視化する、 圧力検出手段にマーカ の間隔に対応するサイズで仮想入力キーを割り付けてマーカ間隔に相似して仮想 入力キーのキーサイズを変更する、 圧力検出手段に割り付けられる仮想入力キー のキー位置とずれた位置で所定回数に亘つて圧力が検出されるとずれ位置に正し いキーを合わせるようにキー間隔を変更する、 といつた制御方法があげられる。 本発明に係る情報処理装置は、 画像情報及び/又は文字情報を表示する表示手 段と、 表示手段表面に設けられて表示手段にかかる圧力を検出する圧力検出手段 とを有する表示入力部と、 圧力検出手段で検出される信号を表示手段に表示され る画像情報の選択及び/又は文字入力に反映する表示入力制御手段とを備え、 表 示入力制御手段は、 圧力検出手段の一部に文字入力のための仮想入力キーのキー 配列を割り付け、 仮想入力キーの基準位置を示すマーカのみを表示手段に表示す ることを特徴としている。

図 1 0は、 キー群の開き角度の設定を変更する状態を示す平面図である。 図 1 1は、 キー群の表示部における上下位置の設定を変更する状態を示す平面 図である。 発明を実施するための最良の形態 以下、 本発明を適用した情報処理装置を図面を参照して説明する。 この情報処 理装置は、 画像情報及び/又は文字情報を表示する表示部 (画面) の表面に設け られた圧力検出手段の一部に仮想入力キーボード (以下、 ソフ トゥヱアキ一ボー ドと記す。 ) のキー配列を割り付け、 表示部には、 この仮想入力キーの基準位置 (ホームポジション) を示すマーカのみを表示することにより、 入力効率のよい ソフトウエアキーボードを採用しつつも、 このソフトウェアキーボードに覆われ ることで表示範囲が限定されるという弊害を解消したグラフィツクユーザィン夕 フエースを提供する情報表示処理兼情報入力処理装置である。
本発明を適用した情報処理装置 1は、 図 1に示すように、 本体筐体 2の前面に 表示部 3を備え、 この表示部 3上には、 表示部に加わる圧力を検出する圧力検出 パネル 4が設けられている。
表示部 3は、 例えば、 L C D (Liquid Crystal Display) であり、 視覚的要素 を多用化して操作性やユーザに対する情報伝達を向上させた、 いわゆるグラフィ ヅクュ一ザインタフヱース (以下、 G U Iと記す。 ) に対応した情報を表示でき る。 アプリケーションソフトの操作では、 作業目的にあわせてデザイン化されて 表示されたツールボタン等を選択することによって、 複雑なメニューゃコマンド を使用することなくソフトウエアを実行できる。
圧力検出パネル 4は、 格子状のグリツドが配置された透明シート状の接触検出 器であり、 この全ての格子点 (感圧点) にかかる圧力を同時に検出できるように なっている。 この圧力検出パネル 4を表示部 3に重ねて配置することによって、 ユーザが表示部 3に表示されたアイコンに触れる、 又は入力ペン等でアイコンを 指し示すことでこのアイコンを直接選択できるようなイン夕フェースを構成して いる。
この情報処理装置 1には、 通常のハ一ドゥエアキ一ボード 7が接続できるよう に接続端子が設けられている。 又は、 予めハードウェアキーボードも備えており、 圧力検出パネル 4とハードゥエアキ一ボード 7とから入力操作ができる情報処理 装置であってもよい。
次に、 図 2に情報処理装置 1の内部構成を示す。 情報処理装置 1は、 主に、 L C Dを用いた表示部 3と圧力検出パネル (夕ツチパネル) 4と表示入力制御部 5 とを備えている。 これらは、 C P U (Central Processing Unit) 6によって統括 制御されている。
表示入力制御部 5は、 圧力検出パネル 4と表示部 3とを用いた G U Iを制御す る機能を有しており、 圧力検出パネル 4で検出される圧力信号や検出位置を表示 部 3での表示に反映してカーソルを生成したり、 表示部 3に表示されるツールボ 夕ンゃラジオボタン等を選択してアブリケーシヨンを実行したりする。
表示入力制御部 5は、 特に、 圧力検出パネル 4の一部にソフトウェアキーボー ドのキーボ一ド配列を割り付け、 ソフトウヱアキーボ一ドから文字入力欄等への 文字入力処理を実行している。 表示部 3には通常、 ソフ トゥヱアキ一ボードのホ —ムポジション (基準位置) を示すマーカのみが表示されている。 そのため、 本 具体例では、 ソフ トゥヱァキーボードを、 適宜 「非表示ソフトウェアキーボー ド」 、 又は 「不可視化されたソフトゥヱァキーボード」 のように記す。
このように情報処理装置 1は、 表示入力制御部 5を備えることによって、 マウ ス、 ハードウェアキーボード等の入力装置を使用しなくとも表示部 3に表示され る情報画面への入力操作が実行できる。
続いて、 情報処理装置 1における制御プログラムのソフトウエア構成を図 3に 示す。 この制御プログラムは、 図示しないフラッシュ R O M等に格納されており、 電源投入初期時に読み出される。 制御プログラムには、 上位層にアプリケーション 1 1が、 続いてインプッ トメ ソヅ ド 1 2と仮想デバイスドライバ 1 3が、 下位層にハードウヱアキ一ボードド ライノ 1 4と夕ツチパネルドライノ 1 5とがある。
アプリケーション 1 1は、 例えば、 文章作成編集のためのソフトウェアであり、 インプヅ トメソヅ ド 1 2は、 日本語入力の際、 口一マ字カナ変換等の入力変換を 行う場合に使用される。 ハードウェアキーボードからの入力は、 ハ一ドゥエアキ 一ボードドライバ 1 4で処理され、 ソフトウェアキーボードからの入力は、 タヅ チパネルドライノ 1 5で処理される。
通常は、 仮想デバイスドライバ 1 3がないため、 ハードウェアキーボードや夕 ツチパネルからの入力はアプリケーシヨン又はィンプットメソッドに直接入力さ れることになる。 ここでは、 キーボードからアプリケーション 1 1への信号タイ プを統一する仮想デバイスドライバ 1 3を用いることにより、 上位層のアプリケ ーション 1 1側からは、 ハードゥエアキ一ボードからの入力信号であるかソフト ウェアキーボードからの入力信号であるかを区別しなくてもよい。 換言すれば、 内部のアプリケーション 1 1側からは、 通常用いられるハ一ドウヱアキ一ボード からの入力と同様に扱われていることになる。 そのため、 アプリケーション 1 1 の開発者は、 キーボードの違いに影響を受けないという利点がある。
続いて、 本発明に係る情報処理装置 1における表示入力操作に関して、 図 4に 示すフローチャートを用いて説明する。
情報処理装置 1における情報表示及び入力操作には、 ユーザが表示部 3に表示 されるアイコン、 ボタン等で表される視覚的要素を直接選択する (タヅチする) 画面要素選択モ一ドと、 ソフトウエアキーボードから文字入力を行うキー入力モ ードとがある。 キー入力モードでは、 ユーザが表示部 3に触れた際の圧力信号が キー入力情報に変換されアプリケーシヨン 1 1に伝達される。
以下、 画面要素選択モード及びキー入力モードにおける非表示ソフトウェアキ 一ボードによる入力処理を説明する。 ここでは、 画面要素選択モードからキー入 力モードへと切り換える場合である。
図 5は、 情報処理装置 1の表示部 3に画面要素選択モードにおける入力検出の 様子を模式的に示している。 画面要素選択モードでは、 ユーザが指で触れた位置 にカーソル 2 1が表示される。 通常のマウス操作のように、 表示部 3に触れなが ら位置 P Aから位置 P Bへ指を移動すれば、 通常のマウスによる操作のように力 —ソル 2 1が表示部 3上を指に沿って位置 P Aから位置 P Bへ移動する。
図 6に示すように、 文字入力欄 2 2が選択されると (ステップ S 1 ) 、 画面要 素選択モードからキー入力モードに切り替わり、 図 7に示すように、 表示部 3に は非表示ソフトウェアキーボード (仮想キーボード) のホームポジションを表す マーカ 2 3が表示される (ステップ S 2 ) 。 これにより不可視化されたソフトゥ エアキーボードが有効となる (ステップ S 3 ) 。 ユーザは、 非表示ながらマーカ 2 3を基準として表示部 3上に割り付けられている非表示ソフトウヱアキ一ボー ドを用いて、 通常のハードゥエアキ一ボードを扱うようにして文字入力欄 2 2に 文字入力が行える。 図 7には、 説明のために、 本来であれば表示されないソフ ト ウェアキーボードを破線で示してある。
表示部 3の中に文字入力欄が複数存在し、 入力欄から別の入力欄へカーソルを 切り換えるときも、 このソフトウェアキ一ボードから行うことができる (ステヅ プ S 4 ) 。 例えば、 T A Bキーにより切り換えることができる。 マーカ 2 3を基 準としたとき T A Bキーに相当する位置で押圧が検出されると、 文字入力欄 2 2 · から文字入力欄 2 2 aへ切り換えられる (ステヅプ S 5 ) 。
キー入力モードの終了もまた非表示ソフトウェアキーボードから実行できる。 例えば、 一連の文字入力が終了した際にマーカ 2 3を基準としたときのエンター キーに相当する位置で圧力が検出されると (ステップ S 6 ) 、 入力モードが終了 してキー入力モードから画面要素選択モ一ドへと再び切り替わる (ステップ S 7 ) 。 画面要素選択モード時に文字入力欄が再度選択されれば、 ステップ S 1か らの処理が繰り返される。
G U Iとは、 一般的にアイコンとマウスとを用いたィン夕フェースを示すが、 上述した構成より実現される G U Iでは、 マウス、 キーボード等の入力装置を使 用することなく表示部 3に直接触れて入力できる。 さらに、 ソフトウェアキ一ボ ードの基準位置 (ホームポジション) を示すマーカのみを表示部 3に表示するこ とによって、 表示部に表示される情報の一部がソフトウエアキーボードによって 隠されるといった弊害も防止できる。 上述の処理におけるステップ S 2及びステップ S 3では、 キー入力モードに切 り換えられた直後からソフトウエアキーボードを不可視化し、 仮想キーボードの マーカ 2 3のみ表示しているが、 予め決められた操作によってソフトウエアキー ボードを表示させることもできる。 ソフトウェアキーボードの不可視化のしかた (表示のしかた) には種々の形態がある。
—例として、 キー入力モードに切り換えられた直後にはマーカ 2 3とともに表 示部 3に表示される情報が遮蔽されないようにソフ トウエアキーボードを半透明 で表示し、 ソフトウヱアキ一ボードにおいて圧力検出が一定期間続くとこのソフ トウエアキーボード全体を徐々に目立たなくし、 さらに所定期間経過した後にマ 一力 2 3のみ残して完全に不可視化する。
また、 他の例として、 ソフ トゥヱァキーボードが不可視化された後であっても、 所定期間以上キー入力が行われない場合、 非表示ソフトウエアキーポードを表示 する。 このとき、 表示部 3上に表示される情報がソフトウェアキーボードによつ て遮蔽されないように半透明で表示する。
また、 ソフ トゥヱアキ一ボードは、 ユーザの手の大きさ及び指間隔等に応じて、 サイズ、 角度、 キ一バインドを自由に変更できる。 すなわち、 表示入力制御部 5 に制御され、 画面中の圧力検出パネル 4における仮想キーボードの配置位置が変 更できる。
非表示ソフトウエアキーボードの割り付けを変更する手法の具体例として、 ホ ームポジションを表すマ一力 2 3に触れて表示部 3上を移動し、 マーカ 2 3同士 の位置関係を変更する方法があげられる。 始めに図 8に示すようなマーカ間隔で、 破線で示すようなキ一が配列されている。 このとき、 ユーザがマーカ 2 3に触れ て間隔を広げると、 図 9に示すように、 キー割り付けがマーカ間隔に相似して拡 張される。
情報処理装置 1によれば、 ソフトウヱアキーボ一ドの圧力検出パネル 4での割 り付けをマーカ 2 3の間隔に応じたサイズで、 且つ移動先のマーカ 2 3の位置を 基準として変更できる。
上述の要領でマーカ 2 3の位置関係を変更することによって、 一般的に左手で 操作されるキー群と右手で操作されるキー群との間隔を変更することもできる。 また、 図 1 0に示すように、 キー群の鬨き角度の設定を変更することもできる。 また、 図 1 1に示すように、 キー群の画面における上下位置の設定を変更するこ ともできる。
さらに、 圧力検出パネル 4に割り付けられるソフトウエアキーボードのキー位 置とずれた位置で所定回数に亘つて圧力が検出されると、 ずれ位置に正しいキー を合わせるようにキー間隔を変更するといつたように、 「ユーザの癖」 に応じて キー配列を微調整することもできる。 これにより、 ユーザが意識しなくともミス タイプが減少し、 入力効率が向上する。
なお、 本発明は、 上述した例に限定されるものではなく、 本発明の要旨を逸脱 しない範囲で種々の変更が可能であることは勿論である。 例えば、 ソフトウェア キーボードのキーボード配列は、 ソフ トゥヱァ処理によって、 1 0 1キーボード、 1 0 4キーボード、 1 0 6キ一ボード、 1 0 9キーボード、 更に Q W E R T Y配 列、 D V O R A K配列等、 ユーザが所望とするキーボード夕イブに変更できる。 また、 ユーザは、 ソフトウェアキーボードのキーアサイン等のキ一設定を自由に 設定できる。 これにより、 利便性及び入力効率が向上する。 また、 音量調整用ボ タン等、 起動ボタン以外の機械式ボタン及びスィッチは、 全て表示部 3と圧力検 出パネル 4を通して G U Iから設定変更することもできる。
この情報処理装置 1には、 外部機器と接続するための無線又は有線による汎用 のインタフヱースを設けることもできる。 これにより、 外部機器の表示装置及び 外部機器に対する入力装置として用いることができ、 外部機器のインタフヱ一ス が向上する。
この他、 情報処理装置 1に T Vチューナ回路、 着脱式記録媒体、 通信モデム等 を設けてもよい。 本発明に係る情報処理装置 1は、 種々の表示形態及び入力形態 に対応できるため、 特に、 イン夕一ネット、 インタラクティブ T V等の双方向通 信機器の G U Iを提供するものとして好適である。 産業上の利用可能性 本発明に係る情報表示入力装置は、 表示入力制御手段によって、 圧力検出手段 の一部に文字入力のための仮想入力キーのキー配列を割り付け、 仮想入力キーの 基準位置を示すマーカのみを表示手段に表示することにより、 画面表示を妨げる ことなく入力効率を高めるとともに、 操作上のユーザの負担を軽減することがで きる。
ここで、 仮想入力キーの割付位置、 場合による可視 '不可視の切り替え、 マ一 力の間隔に対応したキーサイズ変更、 キー間隔変更といった表示入力制御を実行 することにより、 ユーザにとってより一層利便性が向上し、 入力の負担が軽減し 入力効率も向上する。
本発明において、 機械式キーボードを設けた場合、 この機械式キーボードから の入力信号と仮想入力キーからの入力信号とを共通のキーボード信号に変換する 信号変換手段を設けることによって、 アプリケーションの開発者は、 キ一ボード の違いに影響を受けないという利点がある。
本発明に係る情報表示入力方法によれば、 圧力検出手段の一部に文字入力のた めの仮想入力キーのキー配列を割り付け、 仮想入力キーの基準位匿を示すマーカ のみを表示手段に表示することにより、 画面表示を妨げることなく入力効率を高 めるとともに、 操作上のユーザの負担を軽減することができる。
ここで、 仮想入力キーの割付位置、 場合による可視 ·不可視の切り替え、 マー 力の間隔に対応したキーサイズ変更、 キー間隔変更といった表示入力制御を実行 することにより、 ユーザにとってより一層利便性が向上し、 入力の負担が軽減し 入力効率も向上する。
機械式キーボードを設けた場合、 この機械式キーボ一ドからの入力信号と仮想 入力キーからの入力信号とを共通のキーボード信号に変換する信号変換工程を設 けることによって、 アプリケーションの開発者は、 キーボ一ドの違いに影響を受 けないという利点がある。
本発明に係る情報処理装置は、 画像情報及び/又は文字情報を表示する表示手 段と、 表示手段表面に設けられて表示手段にかかる圧力を検出する圧力検出手段 とを有する表示入力部と、 圧力検出手段で検出される信号を表示手段に表示され る画像情報の選択及び/又は文字入力に反映する表示入力制御手段とを備え、 表 示入力制御手段は、 圧力検出手段の一部に文字入力のための仮想入力キーのキー 配列を割り付け、 仮想入力キーの基準位置を示すマーカのみを表示手段に表示す ることにより、 データ等の入力時の入力操作性が高められる。
