Abstract

System for fixing the pan-shaped body (20) for the handle, in controls for releasing reclinable backs of seats in general, by means of taper-headed screws (70) inserted into holes (40) in the two opposing longitudinal walls (30) of said pan-shaped body (20). Externally to the longitudinal walls (30) of the pan-shaped body (20) at the position of said holes (40), is a continuous channel extending from the base (25) of the pan close up to its edge (22) forming, on said walls (30), internal raised areas (34) joined to the semi-arc of the holes (40) facing towards the bottom of the pan, by means of a semi truncated cone (45) with two surfaces, respectively facing towards the base and towards the edge (22) of the pan, therefor making possible formation of the pan-shaped body (20) by a simple moulding process, in the absence of recesses or projections in relation to the direction of moulding.

Description

System for operating release of reclinable backs of seats in general
The disclosure concerns devices for operating the adjustable backs of seats in general.
Devices for releasing seat back positions are already well-known. These devices are shaped like a small pan and are fitted into a cavity made for them in the seat.
A handle is articulated in the rear part of the pan lying flush with its edge when not in use.
To release the seat back the free end of the handle is lifted so releasing the device that keeps the seat back in the position set.
Bearing in mind the height of the handle and its weight, the back tends to pull the pan device out of the seat making it necessary to anchor it in place with screws whose tapered heads fit into spaces to receive them in the longitudinal walls of the pan. The tapered form of the screw heads requires a process difficult to carry out inside the pan where suitable seats have to be created
"transversally" to the longitudinal walls, thus preventing or hindering adoption of simple and inexpensive formation by moulding.
It is therefore the taper of the seat for the fixing screws, transversal to the direction of operation of moulds or punches, that is in conflict with said direction in which a mould can be used. The above invention eliminates the problem, offering advantages both of an economic nature and in the quality of the product, as will now be explained.
Subject of the invention is a system for fixing the pan-shaped body for the handle, in devices for releasing the reclinable backs of seats in general, using truncated-cone headed screws inserted into holes in the two opposing longitudinal walls of said pan-shaped body. Externally to said longitudinal walls of the pan-shaped body and at the position of said holes, there is a continuous channel that extends from the bottom of the pan to a position close to its edge so forming, on said walls, internal raised areas.
These areas are joined to the semi-arc of the holes facing the bottom of the pan by means of a semi-truncated cone, with the two surfaces, respectively facing downwards and towards the edge of the pan, avoiding undercutting or projections in the direction of moulding which means that the pan-shaped body can be produced by a simple moulding process.
The internal dimensions of the semi-truncated cone correspond to those of the truncated-cone shaped heads of the fixing screws. The ends of the semi-truncated cone lie on a geometric diametral plane parallel to the edge of the pan and are joined to the wall area, above the semi-arc of the holes facing towards the edge of the pan, by walls lying at an angle in relation to said area and orthogonal to the geometrical plane tangential to the edge of the pan. The channel is symmetrical in relation to the holes and of a width greater than the maximum diameter of the semi-truncated cone. The walls of the channel are amply joined, on the longitudinal edges, to the walls of the pan. The holes in the walls of the pan-shaped body are aligned. The invention offers evident advantages.
By formation of semi-truncated cones in which to lodge the taper- headed screws, with the two surfaces respectively facing the bottom of the pan and towards the edge, a pan-shaped body can be produced by moulding without any further manual processing. The devices for operating release of reclinable backs to seats are quick to make and of excellent execution offering the advantages of a high-quality long-life product resulting in increased sales and profits. Characteristics and purposes of the invention will be made still clearer by the following example of its execution illustrated by diagrammatically drawn figures. Fig. 1 Pan-shaped body for controlling release of seat backs, fixed to the seats by taper-headed screws, showing the handle half open, perspsective.
Fig. 2 Enlarged detail at the seat of a taper-headed screw, perspective. Fig. 3 Perspective view of the external rear of the pan-shaped body in Figure 1.
Fig. 4 Enlarged detail of the view in Figure 3 at one seat of a taper- headed screw, perspective.
Fig. 5 Longitudinal side of the pan-shaped body at the hole for the fixing screw, during moulding, cross section. Fig. 6 Taper-headed screw, side view.
The oval pan-shaped body 20 presents a front plane 21 , a projecting edge 22, a base 25 and longitudinal parallel walls 30 in which circular through holes 40 are made for the fixing screws 70 (Fig. 6). Said screws 70 present a truncated-cone shaped head 71 , taper 72. Outside the longitudinal walls 30, (Figures 3,4) at the position of said holes 40 are channels 60 with a base 61 and upper ends 63, 64 internally forming, at said walls 30, raised areas 34 extending to the upper end 35, with joining means 36 on the longitudinal edges. The circular holes 40 present, in relation to the base of the pan, an upper semi-arc 41 and a lower semi-arc 42.
Above the upper semi-arcs 41 are the areas 33 practically coinciding with the walls 30. The lower semi-arcs 42 are joined to the raised areas 34 by means of the semi-truncated cones 45 with external wall 65 (Figs. 3,4). The ends 46, 47 of said semi-truncated cones 45 lie on a geometric diametral plane parallel to the edge 22 of the body 20 and join the flat areas 33 of the internal walls 30 by means of angled walls 50 and 51 (Figure 2).
Described as above, the semi-truncated cones 45 can be made by moulding (Figure 6), for example by an internal punch 80 acting from the top of the pan 20 towards its base (arrow A) and an external punch 81 acting from the opposite direction (arrow B).
Clearly therefore, said punches can produce the truncated-cone shaped semi-arcs 45,65 responding to the reactions by the tapered heads 72 of the screws 70, avoiding recesses or projections lying along the direction of moulding and so making possible production of pan-shaped bodies 20 by a moulding process.
