As an example of this, the combined use of platinum and ruthenium is widely used for the purpose of reducing the poisoning of the catalyst by carbon monoxide on the anode side.
- the non-fluorinated thermoplastic polymer is preferably one that is softened or melted in the thermocompression bonding step when preparing the MEA, and that does not melt at the temperature when the battery is operated.
- Those having few polar groups, such as a polyolefin polymer that is more chemically stable, are particularly preferred because they can withstand the harsh environment inside the fuel cell for a long period of time.
- the strong non-fluorinated thermoplastic polymer preferably has a softening temperature in the temperature range of 70 to 200 ° C, more preferably in the range of 90 to 150 ° C. It is in If the softening temperature is less than 70 ° C, the thermoplastic polymer is re-softened and melted due to the operating temperature of the fuel cell or the heat generated by the electrode reaction, and the cell performance becomes unstable. On the other hand, if the softening temperature exceeds 200 ° C., the temperature at the time of MEA preparation needs to be increased, so the polymer electrolyte tends to deteriorate, which is not preferable. There are various methods for measuring the softening temperature. Vicat soft temperature specified in JIS K7206.

- the ratio of the crosslinking agent is in the range of 5 to 70 mass%, more preferably 10 to 50 mass%, based on the total amount of the ion-exchange group-containing polymerizable monomer and the crosslinking agent used. % Is preferable. If the ratio of the cross-linking agent is less than this, the polymer electrolyte swells in the electrode and the volume changes greatly, resulting in a variation in performance, and the performance tends to deteriorate due to obstruction of the fuel and gas flow paths. Therefore, it is not preferable. On the other hand, if the amount of cross-linking agent is more than this This is not preferable because the amount of ion exchange groups becomes too small and the power generation performance is lowered.
- the crosslinkable functional group is not limited to those having a carbon-carbon double bond, but is inferior in that the polymerization reaction rate is slow, but bifunctional or higher functional epoxy compounds and the like can also be used. it can.

- the monomer having an ion exchange group is a low molecule, it can be polymerized after the monomer has penetrated into the fine gaps of the catalyst particles, and the molecular size is high. Part of the catalyst particles that cannot be penetrated by molecular electrolytes can also work.
- a photopolymerization initiator can also be used.
- the catalyst blocks light, and thus the polymerizability is high. Poorly, polymerization in the inside of the catalyst proceeds ⁇ a method of use is limited. In such a case, it is better to mix the catalyst after photopolymerization or after the polymerization reaction is started, but the performance tends to be lower than that of the electrode obtained by thermal polymerization.
- the method for preparing the electrode by blending the non-fluorinated thermoplastic polymer, the polymer electrolyte, and the catalyst is not particularly limited, but examples thereof include the following methods.
- a monomer composition solution is prepared by dissolving an ion exchange group-containing monomer constituting the polymer electrolyte, a crosslinking agent, and additives such as a polymerization initiator and a surfactant as necessary with water or a solvent.
- a plastic polymer is blended and mixed by stirring to obtain a catalyst dispersion.

- the porous substrate used in the present invention also has a hydrophobic material strength.
- a hydrophobic material By using a hydrophobic material, it becomes difficult for unnecessary water to remain at the interface between the membrane and the catalyst, and it is difficult to cause a phenomenon called flooding that tends to cause a decrease in output during operation of the fuel cell.
- the porous substrate preferably has a tensile modulus of 500 to 5000 MPa, more preferably 1000 to 5000 MPa.
- the breaking strength is preferably 50 to 500 MPa, more preferably 100 to 500 MPa.
- the membrane tends to deform due to the force of swelling with the filled polymer methanol or water, and when the range is out of the range, the base material becomes too brittle, and electrode bonding The film is likely to crack due to press molding at the time or tightening when assembled in a battery.
