Abstract

L ' i n v e n t i o n concerne un dispositif à guide optique (1) allongé et moyen de pompage, destiné à produire par émission stimulée un signal optique (4) sous l'effet d'un pompage optique par une onde de pompe (6), l'émission stimulée provenant d'éléments actifs du guide ayant été excités par l'onde de pompe. Selon l'invention, le guide mono-cristallin à coeur (3) dopé d'éléments actifs et à gaine (2) périphérique non dopée permet le guidage et le confinement de l'onde de pompe dans l'ensemble de son volume, le signal optique (4) produit dans le coeur étant en propagation libre (8), les indices optiques du coeur et de la gaine du guide suffisamment proches pour éviter un guidage dans le coeur dopé. Dans un mode de mise en oeuvre, le guide a une longueur inférieure à la longueur de Rayleigh du signal optique dans le guide. Le dispositif peut être mis en oeuvre dans des amplificateurs optiques impulsionnels ou des oscillateurs lasers.
