Abstract

[0001] 本発明は、流体 (特に気体)中に超音波を送信、または、流体中を伝搬する超音波 を受信するための、音響整合体、それを用いた超音波振動子、およびその超音波振 動子を用いる超音波流量計に関する。
背景技術
[0002] 超音波振動子 50は、一般に、図 16に示すような構成である。図 16において、圧電 体 51は、ケース 53に、接合手段 55を介して接合されている。ケースはステンレス等 の金属材料を用いて形成される。ケース 53には、さらに、音響整合層 52が接合手段 54を介して接合されている。
[0003] 圧電体 51は、電気信号を機械振動に変換する。この機械振動は、音響整合層 52 を介して、気体中に超音波として伝達される。圧電体 51で発生した振動が気体へ効 率よく伝達されるには、音響インピーダンスを考慮する必要がある。

[0005] 圧電体と放射媒体の音響インピーダンスが異なると、その境界面において、超音波 は反射しやすくなる。超音波が反射すると、空気中を透過する超音波の強さが弱くな るため、所定の対象に超音波が効率よく伝達されなくなるという問題がある。
[0006] この問題を解決するために用いるのが、音響整合層(音響整合部材とも呼ばれる) であり、圧電体と放射媒体との間に形成する。音響整合部材は、その音響インピーダ ンス Z 、次式(11)の関係を満たすように形成されて、超音波が放射媒体へ効率よ く伝達されることを確保してレ、る。

この最適な値は、 l l X 104kg/ (m2s)程度となる。式(11)からわかるように、音響 整合層は、固体で、密度が小さぐかつ音速の遅いものであることが要求される。この 要求を満たす材料として、従来、乾燥ゲルがしばしば用いられてきた。この乾燥ゲル の製造方法は、例えば、 日本国公開特許公報特開 2005— 8424号公報に示されて いる。シリカ乾燥ゲルを用いた超音波振動子に関しては、例えば、 日本国公開特許 公報特開 2002— 262394号公報に示されている。
発明の開示
発明が解決しょうとする課題
[0008] 図 11に示す構成の超音波振動子において、ケース 53はステンレスなどの金属材 料で構成されている。ステンレスの熱膨張係数は、例えば、 17. 8PPm/°C程度であ り、比較的大きい。これに対し、音響整合層 52として用いる乾燥ゲルの熱膨張係数 は、数 PpmZ°C以下である。よって、ケース 53に乾燥ゲルを接合すると、使用環境の 温度変化によって、ケース 53が伸縮しても、乾燥ゲルは、伸縮しにくいため、ケース 5 3と同じようには伸縮しなレ、。その結果、乾燥ゲルに割れが生じることがある。このため 、超音波振動子の動作が安定しないという課題があった。また、圧電体 51の熱膨張 係数は、例えば、 7. 5ppm/°Cであるため、圧電体 51に乾燥ゲルを接合した場合に おいても、同様の課題がある。
[0009] 本発明は、前記課題を解決して、使用環境の温度変化に対しても安定して動作す る、乾燥ゲルからなる音響整合体、それを使用した超音波振動子、および超音波流 量計を提供することを目的とする。
課題を解決するための手段
[0010] 前記課題を解決するために、本発明は、非加水分解性有機基がケィ素に直接結 合している、重合性の有機ケィ素化合物を含むモノマーが重合されてなる、乾燥ゲ ルを含む、音響整合体を提供する。この特定の有機ケィ素化合物を含むモノマーを 重合してなる乾燥ゲルは、従来、音響整合体として提案されている乾燥ゲルよりも、よ り柔軟である。 [0011] ここで、「音響整合体」という用語は、音響整合層として超音波振動子等に組み込 む前の独立した部材を指すために用いられ、これは超音波振動子等に組み込まれる と「音響整合層」と呼ばれることがある。即ち、「音響整合体」と「音響整合層」はその 機能等において変わるところはなぐ超音波振動子等に組み込まれているか否かの 違いを有するだけである。

発明の効果
[0015] 本発明の音響整合体は、特定のオルガノシラン化合物を含むモノマーを重合して なり、より柔軟性を有する乾燥ゲルで構成されていることを特徴とする。この特徴によ り、本発明の音響整合体は、超音波振動子において使用されたときに、使用環境の 温度変化によってケースが伸縮しても、その伸縮に追随することができるので、 自ら の破損を防止する。よって、本発明の音響整合体を用いた超音波振動子およびこれ を有する超音波流量計は、広い温度範囲において安定して動作をすることができ、 超音波を良好かつ確実に送受信できるものとなる。

[0019] 本発明の音響整合体を使用して構成する、超音波振動子の一例を図 1に示す。図
1において、音響整合体は、符号 2で示され、被接合部材 3である圧電体に、接合体 4である接着剤で接合されて、超音波振動子 1を形成する。圧電体 4には、対向する 電極 5、 6が形成されている。電極は、銀または金などの導電性ペーストを加熱し、焼 き付けて形成する。電極 5、 6と電極リード 7、 8とは、はんだ又は銀ロウなどによって電 気的に接合されている。以下、音響整合体を構成する乾燥ゲルについて説明し、さ らに、乾燥ゲルと他の多孔体力 成る複合構造の音響整合体について説明する。

本発明の音響整合体は、非加水分解性基がケィ素に直接結合している、重合性の 有機ケィ素化合物 (以下、この有機ケィ素化合物を、便宜的に「第 1有機ケィ素化合 物」と呼ぶ)を含むモノマーを重合してなる、乾燥ゲルを含む。重合性の有機ケィ素 化合物とは、加水分解および/または脱水反応により、 Si_〇結合の繰り返しを含む 重合体を生成する化合物を指す。重合性の有機ケィ素化合物は、例えば、加水分 解性有機基がケィ素に結合しているシラン化合物、シラノール、および〇H基を有す るシロキサン化合物等である。
[0021] 本発明の音響整合体は、好ましくは、加水分解性有機基と、非加水分解性有機基 とが同一のケィ素に直接結合している、オルガノシランィ匕合物を含むモノマーを重合 してなる、乾燥ゲルを含む。乾燥ゲルは、オルガノシラン化合物同士および Zまたは オノレガノシランィ匕合物と別の化合物を重合させ、乾燥させることにより得られる。この 乾燥ゲルにぉレ、ては、非加水分解性有機基がゲルの骨格を形成するケィ素に結合 しており、それにより、柔軟性が確保されるものと考えられる。

この工程では、乾燥ゲルの骨格を形成する原料 (ゲル原料)である第 1有機ケィ素 化合物と、これを加水分解するための水、反応溶媒、および触媒を加えて、出発原 材料である混合溶液を調製する工程である。図 2では、第 1有機ケィ素化合物として 、オノレガノシラン化合物を使用する例を示す。オノレガノシラン化合物は、先に、例示 したとおりである。また、オノレガノシランィ匕合物とともに、先に例示した、テトラアルコキ シシランをゲル原料として用いてよい。さらにまた、オノレガノシランィ匕合物とともに、上 記式(5)および(6)で表される化合物のうち、少なくとも一方と、式(7)で表される化 合物との共重合体を、ゲル原料(モノマー成分)として加えてよレ、。あるいは、オルガ ノシラン化合物に代えて、式 (4)で示されるポリシロキサンジオールィ匕合物を使用し てよい。

超臨界乾燥法は、溶媒を超臨界状態として、液体状態を経ずに取り除くことができ るので、気液界面が形成される毛管力は発生しない。このため、湿潤ゲルが乾燥時 に割れに《なる。乾燥に用いられる超臨界流体として、水、アルコールおよび二酸 化炭素等がある。最も低温で超臨界状態が得られ、しかも無害である二酸化炭素が 多くの場合、用いられる。

[0109] このように、第 2多孔体である乾燥ゲルを、第 1多孔体であるセラミックス多孔体のマ トリックスにより規定される孔部等により形成される連通孔を通過するように必要な材 料を含浸させて形成する方法によれば、第 1多孔体に形成された凹部と成形型の表 面とが密閉された空間を形成した状態にて、第 2多孔体を得るための乾燥工程まで 実施できる。その結果、第 2多孔体の形成中、ゲルにおいて亀裂が生じにくくなる。 即ち、図 2の製造方法に従って乾燥ゲルを製造する場合には、ゲルの表面が露出し た状態にあるので、ゲルにおいて亀裂が入りやすいという不都合が生じやすいものの 、この製造方法によれば、第 2多孔体となる部分が第 1多孔体により保護されて、応 力を受けにくいので、亀裂が入らないようにすることができる。また、第 2多孔体は、図 14に示すように、成形型に接触した状態にて形成されるので、その表面は成形型の 表面が平滑である場合には極めて滑らかとなる。

)のみを使用して、乾燥ゲルを作製した。乾燥ゲルは、直径 10mm、厚さ 1 · 5mmの 円筒形とした。いずれのサンプルについても、再構築工程の処理時間を調整すること により、密度の異なるものを複数作製した。

産業上の利用可能性
[0139] 以上のように、本発明の音響整合体は、柔軟性を有する乾燥ゲルを含み、これを音 響整合層として有する超音波振動子は、使用環境の温度変化によってケースが伸縮 しても、乾燥ゲルがその伸縮に追随するので、破損しにくい。したがって、本発明の 音響整合体を備える超音波振動子は、広い温度範囲において安定して動作をする ことができ、天然ガスおよび液化石油ガスの流量を測定する業務用および家庭用の 超音波式ガス流量測定装置 (例えば、ガスメータ)および水道の流量計等に使用す るのに適している。

Claims

請求の範囲
[1] 非加水分解性有機基がケィ素に直接結合している、重合性の有機ケィ素化合物を 含むモノマーが重合されてなる、乾燥ゲルを含む、音響整合体。
[2] 前記乾燥ゲルと、他の多孔体とから成る、請求項 1に記載の音響整合体。
[3] 前記他の多孔体が、セラミックス多孔体である、請求項 2に記載の音響整合体。
[4] 前記重合性の有機ケィ素化合物が、加水分解性有機基と、非加水分解性有機基と が同一のケィ素に直接結合している、オルガノシラン化合物である、請求項 1に記載 の音響整合体。
[5] モノマーが、式(1)で表される化合物または式(1)で表される化合物の部分加水分 解重合物をさらに含む、請求項 1に記載の音響整合体。

[7] 乾燥ゲルが、前記重合性の有機ケィ素化合物の量が、上記式(1)で表される化合 物および上記式(1)で表される化合物の部分加水分解重合物を合わせた量の 0. 1 重量%〜: 10重量%であるモノマーが重合されてなるものである、請求項 5に記載の 音響整合体。
[8] 前記オノレガノシラン化合物力 式(2)および(3)で表される少なくとも 1つの化合物 である、請求項 4に記載の音響整合体。

[15] (1)セラミックス粉末を少なくとも 1種類有する含気泡セラミックススラリーを成形型内 でゲルィヒして 1または複数の凹部を有するゲル状多孔質成形体を得ること、
ゲル状多孔質成形体を乾燥および脱脂すること、および
ゲル状多孔質成形体を焼成すること
を含む方法により、第 1多孔体を形成すること、ならびに
(2)第 1多孔体を、別の成形型内に配置すること、
当該別の成形型内に、非加水分解性有機基がケィ素に直接結合している、重 合性の有機ケィ素化合物を含むモノマーを含む出発原料溶液を入れて、第 1多孔体 に当該出発原料溶液を含浸させること、ならびに
当該モノマーを重合させて、湿潤ゲルを形成すること、ならびに
湿潤ゲルを乾燥させること
を含む方法により、当該凹部に第 2多孔体を形成すること
を含む、音響整合体の製造方法。
[16] 圧電体および音響整合層を含み、音響整合層が請求項 1〜: 12のいずれ力 1項に 記載の音響整合体から成る、超音波振動子。
[17] 被測定流体が流れる流路、
1対の、請求項 16に記載の超音波振動子、および
超音波振動子間の超音波伝播時間を測定する計時装置
を含む、超音波流量計。
