Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a hydrogen production apparatus and a hydrogen production method for producing hydrogen by an autothermal reforming reaction of methanol and hydrogen separation using a hydrogen permeable membrane made of a palladium alloy.
  • Hydrogen gas is widely used in chemical industries such as ammonia synthesis, hydrogenation of various organic compounds, petroleum refining and desulfurization, metallurgy industry, and semiconductor industry. Recently, with the advancement of fuel cell technology, it is also expected as a new energy source, and the demand for hydrogen gas is increasing.
  • the autothermal reforming reaction provides a reformed gas mainly composed of hydrogen with a simpler apparatus.
  • the temperature of the catalyst layer is usually higher than 300 ° C, and the temperature of the reformed gas at the reforming reactor outlet is determined by the balance between the exothermic reaction and the endothermic reaction.
  • the temperature at the reforming reactor outlet can be controlled by adjusting the amount of oxygen supplied to the reactor (the molar ratio of oxygen to methanol). At this time, not only the temperature of the outlet gas but also its composition changes depending on the oxygen supply amount (oxygen Z methanol supply molar ratio).
  • the PSA system is a complex system consisting of multiple absorption towers filled with an adsorbent and a number of automatic valve forces that control the inlet and outlet. Furthermore, in order to separate hydrogen by the PSA method, it is necessary to cool the reformed gas and remove the water in the reformed gas. Hydrogen production equipment using the PSA method is complicated and large. It will be a powerful one. Therefore, downsizing is difficult, which is not preferable from the viewpoint of energy utilization.
  • a metal film (alloy film) having an alloying force such as noradium and silver or copper has a property of selectively permeating hydrogen, and a gas power containing hydrogen can obtain very high-purity hydrogen.
  • the permeation rate of hydrogen is proportional to the temperature, and it is desirable to use a metal film at a high temperature of about 200 to 500 ° C. in order to obtain a practical hydrogen permeation capability. If a hydrogen separation membrane made of a palladium alloy is used, the hydrogen separation process can be expected to be smaller and simpler than the PSA method. In addition, there is an energy advantage such as no need to cool the hydrogen-containing reformed gas supplied to the reforming reaction process. Heating may be required to obtain a practical hydrogen permeability.
  • the hydrogen separation process using the noradium alloy membrane can be operated at a high temperature. Therefore, in the above-described method for producing hydrogen by steam reforming of hydrocarbons, the heat source and other equipment between the steam reforming step and the hydrogen separation step can be omitted. Attempts have been made to thermally integrate the quality process and the hydrogen separation process. In particular, in an autothermal reforming reaction, a steam reforming reaction is not required without excessive external heating. Many proposals have been made because it is possible to utilize the generated heat.
  • Patent Document 1 describes a vaporization chamber and reforming in a hydrogen production system including a hydrocarbon source, a water source, an oxygen source, a vaporization chamber, and a reforming chamber in which a catalyst and a hydrogen separation membrane are installed. It discloses that the chamber is thermally connected.
  • Patent Document 2 discloses a fuel in which a shift unit that performs a shift reaction accompanied by heat generation is arranged via heat exchange in the downstream of a reforming unit that performs a partial oxidation reaction, and a hydrogen separation membrane is disposed downstream of the shift unit.
  • a gas generation system is disclosed.
  • Patent Document 3 discloses a reformer formed by laminating a flat fuel reforming catalyst layer, a flat hydrogen permeable membrane, and a flat carbon monoxide conversion catalyst layer in multiple stages. It is described that the heat for the reforming reaction is supplied automatically by the partial oxidation exothermic reaction, and the external heating mechanism can be omitted.
  • Patent Document 4 discloses a hydrogen gas generator having a structure (hybrid structure) in which a partial oxidation reaction catalyst layer is placed on a water gas shift reaction catalyst layer.
  • the optimum reforming reaction temperature varies depending on the raw material compound, the type of reforming catalyst, and the reaction conditions.
  • the hydrogen permeability of palladium alloy membranes is affected by temperature. For this reason, when an autothermal reforming reaction or partial oxidation reaction is combined with a hydrogen permeable membrane made of palladium alloy, it is difficult to set optimum conditions for the reaction and hydrogen permeation.
